On Monday the Capital One Cup first round fixtures were released and Leeds United were handed a home tie against League Two side Chesterfield. There have been a few pre-season friendly games over the years but the last time the two sides met in a competitive fixture was back in 1960 in the League Cup 3rd round. On that day Leeds ran out four nil winners with Billy Bremner on the score sheet. The game is to be played Tuesday 6th August 2013, 7.45pm kick off.

Today the Championship fixtures for 2013-2014 have been releases and Leeds United kick off the season with a home game against Brighton on Saturday 3rd August, 3.00pm. If this fixture is anything like the corresponding fixture last season it should be an exciting affair. During that game, Leeds’ last home game of the season, Brighton ended up two one winners but there was three red cards with El Hadji Diouf scoring a penalty then being sent off for making an ‘inappropriate’ gesture to the Brighton fans.

The first away game is on Saturday 10th August, 3.00pm against Leicester City and Leeds meet their first former Premier League team when QPR visit Elland Road on Saturday 31st August.
