All quiet on the Cellino front

It was pointed out in our forums the other day that it’s been a bit quiet recently on the Leeds United front. The season has kicked off and is in full flow but the discussions have been sparse. The feeling is that despite results not being the best there is little to moan about. The appointment of Monk is still considered a positive step and most people seem to be giving him time to nurture the squad and develop the team. The main thing that seems to be conspicuous by its absence is Massimo Cellino.

Leeds United’s next game after the international break is at home to Huddersfield on Saturday 10th September, see how the pundits think we’ll get on with championship betting tips and match previews.

Cellino has been active sacking the clubs solicitor club's solicitor and finding time to chat to fans on the train back from Luton but he’s not been up to his usual antics. No sacking of managers, disposing of managing directors, court cases, pie taxes or mad interviews. Has Cellino finally learned his lesson? Is he going to sit back and let Paul Bell, Ben Mansford and Garry Monk get on with things?

Perhaps another explanation is Cellino is quiet due to an impending take over? Andrea Radrizzani and Boafeng Sport have been widely linked with a move to buy a majority stake in the club this month. Talks are thought to be at an early stage but Radrizzani was photographed with Cellino at the oprning game of the season. There have also been rumours of a UK based deal but details are limited at this stage.

Whatever the reason for Cellino taking more of a back seat there has been a positive vibe around the club recently and long may it continue. Without so many off the field distractions perhaps we can really push on this season?
