Re: The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tue 13th Nov)

There can be a huge difference between a great coach and great manager. Bielsa certainly seems to fit the great coach role, improving players, making the team play well but despite vast management career is there any real evidence that he is a great manager? He seems to have his plan A and little in...

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell

we invested in some real quality in 89/90 ! the miser should follow suit . The big difference then though was that there wasn't such a gulf in wages and as such a 2nd flight team could attract top flight players, additionally the transfer fees for top flight players weren't as vastly inflated as th...

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Our owner would rather spend dosh on his other business ventures And rightly so as he knows that industry inside out and knows where to invest, how much etc and knows what it will guarantee in return. Football is such a risky business where money doesn't always guarantee results (although it helps)...

Re: One Dimensional Attack

Roofe is very good in the air though...size has little to do with aerial ability. Chris Wood couldn't get 6 inches off the floor most of the time. Roofe does well in the air for someone his size. He won't win many headers unless the cross is pinpoint if he is going against 2 6ft+ defenders and a ke...

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell

Totally agree otherwise it will cost us more points - we would have lost yesterday no matter who was in goal. Would disagree about us losing no matter who was in net because the second goal was crucial (especially as we fell apart after that). We have got back in to many games this season after goi...

Re: One Dimensional Attack

Without coming down on Roofe it may be that Bamford can make us better. I haven't seen enough of Bamford but it may be he is a bit better than Roofe in the air, maybe a bit quicker. I could be wrong though as I haven't seen enough of Bamford to really judge. That said it was an investment of £7m to ...

Re: One Dimensional Attack

The thing is we are what we are and although we have good players they aren't going to have all the attributes that would be ideal. Roofe is a decent striker but he doesn't have express pace, he isn't a 6ft plus targetman etc and as such some matches will suit him and some won't. Playing with just 1...

Re: West Brom v Leeds Utd Match Thread

The main reason Alioski is in the team is because he fits the criteria of what Bielsa needs in that position - albeit better end product would be good but then you are talking big bucks. For the team to be balanced right and working then Bielsa needs wingers that get forward at pace but also work ba...

Re: West Brom v Leeds Utd Match Thread

Forshaw has completely changed the balance of midfield since he started for Saiz ... Completely agree. There was one run that Forshaw did where he brought the ball forward from his own half and ran well but then when he got nearer to the WBA players he slowed down and passed it sideways (the pass w...

Re: West Brom v Leeds Utd Match Thread

This has been coming tbf. Not played well in a long time. No penetration up front, not even looked like scoring today. BPF howler for the second goal doesn't help, Blackman must be expecting a chance now. Roofe did nothing right today - tbh seemed like he wanted to prove a point against his old tea...

Does seem that no real plan B - takes off a striker for a striker when chasing the game and then leaving Saiz kicking his heels for far too long.
Bizarre taking off top scorer, best set piece deliverer and now our second most likely scorer or assist maker.

I'll never understand MB subs ....second poor one for me while Forshaw stays on and game changer Saiz still sits

Why do our players never do anything against their former clubs? Roofe non-existent today yet seems every ex Leeds player has a blinder against us.

Re: The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Tue 6th Nov)

From all accounts it seemed like Saiz was kicked from pillar to post in the U23 match. If I was him I'd have been thinking what's the point in this as he wouldn't be wanting to get an injury and I doubt he would have been in desperate need of match fitness.

Re: So are we still gonna fall apart ?

The main thing for me this season is that there are no standout teams that look capable of securing 100pts as such promotion is wide open and from what I have seen so far we have as good a chance as any team and possibly better than any other team. I don't see us as getting anywhere near the amount ...

Re: Wigan Athletic v Leeds Utd Match Thread

I don't think that's right, the best crosses are about anticipation. I agree a cross with the other 10 guys still in their own half is pointless but a cross into dangerous areas at a good height and speed should allow for the attacker to move into it...If a crosser tries to hit a static player it b...

Re: The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Mon 5th Nov)

I thought he should yes, he sets the wall up, it should have been further to the left, that way the head height shot wouldn't have made it over the wall, he doesnt convince me and i know he is young but we should have got a better goalie in the summer. Wall was in the right position but Forshaw and...

Re: The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Mon 5th Nov)

Isn't bottom corner curling in harder to reach than top corner? Especially for big keepers. Greatest save of all time was Banks at the foot of the post from Pele It wasn't bottom corner or top corner - ordinarily a saveable height if it was a normal shot however it shouldn't have come through the w...
