Re: Album Club Review - Faith Brothers 'Eventide'/Big Country 'Steeltown'

Two albums from the 80s but exploring themes that are still relevant today, reflecting on the news coming out about British Steel today. :(
The title track from the Big Country album and 'Tradesman's Entrance' from 'Eventide' particularly strike a chord.

Re: Album Club Review - Faith Brothers 'Eventide'/Big Country 'Steeltown'

Can we change the thread title. Says "Faithless Brothers" currently. I won't get no sleep if it stays like that..........

Album Club Review - Faith Brothers 'Eventide'/Big Country 'Steeltown'

Here are the two non-album, Faith Brothers tracks (not compulsory but well worth a go, IMHO)

Re: Album Club Review - Hold Steady 'Almost Killed Me' + Placebo 'Without You I'm Nothing'

I'm not quite sure why I haven't heard this Hold Steady album previously but what a great record. Thanks to Faiip for introducing me to this. A beautiful noise. I shall now revisit Separation Sunday as I probably didn't give it the attention it deserved first time round. 4 stars. Placebo - Without Y...

You can come up with a couple of albums if you wish AFTER Faaip (who is next up) choices have been reviewed
OK. Not been on for a bit. What's the crack? Do we review each one and give them a rating out of 5 (stars)?

OK. My vote goes to Kamasi. Hats off for some good recommendations this year though. Every album that reached the final cut I've really liked.

Re: Album of 2018

I need time to make a decision on my personal album of the year. I own all apart from the Gary Numan Live set in the Grand Final, enjoying five albums all different in their own beautiful way. Spoilt for choice this time especially as two of my hot favourites of 2018 from Car Seat Headrest & Natali...

I will, however, add the fantastic 'Devotion' by Tirzah as a nominee for the FOLK/SINGER/SONGWRITER/COUNTRY category.

Re: Album of 2018 - Nominate Now

Think I'm going to have to jettison Yellow6. Can't really see where it will fit in and I don't want to get rid of any of my other choices. In fairness, it's not likely to garner many votes anyway.
