Re: Musical instruments

Decided three years ago (aged 49) that I would like to learn bass. I'd wanted to for God knows how many years but never got round to it. Bought this beauty and played it most days for about a year but when we moved house it got put in the loft for a bit and I stopped playing. it's now back in my mus...

Re: Album of 2017 - VOTE NOW

I was only familiar with my top three, and although I have a different Barr Brothers album and a couple of Grandaddy albums, I never actually listen to any of the music I've voted for. A poor year for me overall. I was away for that whole year, so didn't pick up on any new music at the time. I agre...

Re: Burnley condemns 'White Lives Matter' banner

Pretty much all this. I'm just staggered that the idea and sentiment behind "BLM" has to keep being explained to people over and over and over again and that it is somehow seen by some white people as a kind of slight on them, meaning that their lives are somehow less important. "White Lives ...

Re: Burnley condemns 'White Lives Matter' banner

Regarding the, 'more black people are killed by other blacks than by whites' comments, is the implication here that black people, or black culture, are intrinsically more violent? Or that there is no institutional racism which leads black people to be disproportionately killed at the hands of white...

Re: Playlist over the last week......

I know there were a few people who liked the Hum album from 1995 I nominated in the albums thread a while ago. Well, they have just announced the release of their first new album for 22 years! Streaming now via Bandcamp. I'm just having a go on it now. Link below. https://humband.bandcamp.com/releases

 another goodie
I'm going to have to give The War On Drugs another go. I don't mind them at all but remember when Lost In The Dream appeared in 2014 and everyone was absolutely raving about it. I just didn't get all the fuss at all. Time for a revisit, I think.........

Not Joe's best but decent, probably #5 ...The XTC is excellent as always
The XTC and SR were repressed, remastered versions but the JJ was second hand - £8. They had a copy of I'm Your Man i wish I'd picked up as well. might pop back at the weekend and see if it's still there.

Have you caught up with Jeff Parker's new album yet..It's rather good I'll check it out. Edited to say, I'm lying. I listened to a couple of tracks from it recently and thought it sounded great. Didn't recognise the name til I saw the album cover. I think I read about it in a review in The Wi...

Re: Album of 2007 - NOMINATE NOW

Burial 'Untrue' was one of my ten considerations 'In Rainbows' is a major miss so far Was really tempted by In Rainbows and would probably have gone with it if ok computer hadn't romped home so convincingly last time. However, I'd like some people to discover Rothko.....even if it's not many people...
