Re: NHS Cyber Attack

Tories wouldn't fund a software upgrade for £5.5m, but can find £200bn for Trident. Draw your own conclusions Spend the 5.5million to upgrade the remaining 4.7% of NHS computers that run on XP and disable huge swathes of the NHS, because the computers they link to, outwith the NHS, are also running...

Re: Our best wishes to Barryanorak

A little bird told me that something was happening over here... Thanks all for the wishes. It's been...an experience, but, as someone told me a few weeks ago, one heart attack is a warning, two is careless. Just goes to show that bad things sometimes happen... Oh, and Faaip - I'm still 50 for anothe...

Re: What's going on ?

Just to prove there is life in the old dog yet... I still pop in on a regular basis, but find little time to actively engage. And, to be fair, with all the back biting and wheeling and dealing, I've grown a little tired with the goings on at ER - until Massimo departs, there is no chance of change. ...

Re: England v Wales

Well, he was on the pitch.

In the context of the offside law, 'Interfering with play' means playing or touching the ball passed or played by a teammate.

If Williams was deemed to have intentionally played the ball (he went up for a header), then Vardy was no longer offside.

Re: England v Wales

no comments on the "goal" that was offside then? If you're talking about Vardy's goal, it was one of the best pieces of refereeing seen in recent times. The ball came to Vardy off the head of a Welsh player... If only certain referees knew the rules - like those who rule out own gaols for offside...

Re: George Martin

It is sad when anyone dies, but if you have lived a life 'well lived', then it becomes a case that the person should be celebrated, rather than mourned. Although I am on record as not being a fan of the Beatles, there is no doubt of their pervading influence, much of which can be laid at the door of...

Re: Marching on Together

Not a bad design - can't be doing with this new 'all leeds aren't we' nonsense though. sounds really aggressive and arrogant to me. what's wrong with a good old fashioned 'we are leeds'? I can't help wondering which came first - 'All Leeds Aren't We', or 'We're All Wednesday Aren't We' (I live, and...

Had a fish in Northumberland last summer, never had it before. Now a firm favourite. If you ever get a chance to try Stone Bass - it's amazing.

Re: Happy Birthday Anorak, and Emsley (wherever you are)

Thanks chaps. Despite a win from the lads on saturday, that was as good as it got. A bout of gastroenteritis ensured that my birthday was spent nursing a cup of peppermint tea and the subsequent two days necessitated a clear path being maintained between sofa and WC... We plan to do it all again thi...

Re: NFL - playoff season

To go in to the break 31-0 down and to come within a couple of inches of a completed kick off catch that could have set up a final drive - would have made it one of the best comebacks in NFL history.

IMHO.

Re: O/T Very very sad news......

Despite his music being part of the soundtrack of my life, my contact with Bowie has always been peripheral. I don't own a single song of his. Undoubtedly one of the most influential musicians of his generation (and a couple more) he always kept moving on, trying new things, collaborating with the g...
