Re: Under 23's v Cardiff today

Orta appears to have waved the magic wand with the two kids teams...wonderful stuff, hopefully will benefit PH for years to come ... Future looks really bright. Someone said that we sell our best youngsters. Until we get promoted that's inevitable. But it seems that we have enough coming through to...

Re: Championship's Most Expensive Squads

6 teams are above us who are below us in that table. Which obviously means the opposite is true. There are teams below us that have spent more. I think the table offers some optimism. It says that we're not really underachieving and puts credence in Orta's long term plans. It would be nice to be hi...

England World Cup Squad - Who You Got?

There's a little time left but basing this on Southgate's 3 at the back formation GK: Butland, Pickford, Forster (Pope) Center Backs: Cahill, Stones, Maguire, Smalling, Keane, Gomez Full Backs: Walker, Trippier, Bertrand, Young (would include Rose but not sure why he's not playing) Midfielders Wilsh...

Re: Summer Transfers and Squad Discussion

I guess we almost signed Mbakogu in January. He's highly rated but his numbers don't excite. I think McBurnie looks a more solid story and a better prospect too. Yiadom might add something to the squad but I think our current full backs are good enough. Not sure about the rest of the targets. Pundit...

Fantastic player. I was surprised at how little time Chelsea gave him. Harry Kewell was better though.

Spending when - this season ?
As far as I understand, it's amount spent on the first team squad.

Championship's Most Expensive Squads

This survey ranks us as about par for the course. We were 10th in terms of spending, so 12th in the table is not a bad reflection.

The sad truth is Barnsley are a perennially poor team and comparing what he may do here to what he did do there is irrelevant. As it always is.
I agree. No comparison. Lower budget, facilities and support. And PH left them in a better place than when he joined them.

Re: The Script

It's too early to judge Orta and label his signings useless. Saiz and Alioski looked great for a while when we were fully fit and things were going well. Some of the players he signed should have been in the U23's but got thrown into the first team out of necessity. Ekuban, Grot, Cibicki, De Bock ha...

Impressive stats for the tykes, no doubt they would worsen if Oli signed for Leeds
Which stat are you suggesting? Red cards?

Win. It would be horrible to lose this game given the circumstances. Even worse for Hecks.

Ayling Out?

Not sure how this one started but saw it a few times on the news feed this morning. Phil Hay (Yorkshire Evening Post) even mentioned it briefly. I can see that we have a few right backs with Coyle coming back and Berardi. Yiadom from Barnsley has been heavily mentioned too, although I'd picture him ...

Besides he'll probably be expensive as he's English, so like £10m.
He's out of contract so the money's a good deal

Oli McBurnie

Chances look good that this one will happen. Seems appropriate since Lassoga will be gone and none of our strikers are making an obvious claim right now. I thought we had a done deal for Mbakogu too. I know we're all hoping for an established No. 9 in the summer window. Does McBurnie fit the bill? I...

Re: Player Of The Year 17/18.

Part of me thinks that nobody really deserves it. Pablo's the best of the bunch but he still hasn't had a "great" year. Coming up with a shortlist must have been really difficult. Roofe doesn't get in the side at full strength. Alioski had a brief hot spell but has been cold for months. Saiz got a 6...

Let's not forget it was luck that DOL discovered exactly how good the likes of Smith, Kewell, Robbo and Woodgate actually were.
So what you're saying is that we should promote Carlos Corberan to manager and we'll have the same success :)

Re: What do we need for next season? Signings etc.

Really like the Charlie Adam idea, or any probing, goal scoring midfielder for that matter. For me it's a matter of center back and center forward first. Second a goalie (with BPF as rotation/back up). I think De Bock can do the job at LB next year. Ayling, Jansson, DeBock, Forshaw, Viera, Saiz, Ali...

Re: Our strikers....

The timing of Wood's departure was unfortunate. It left us scrambling around at transfer deadline and you would have thought Lassoga (for the short term) and Grot and Cibicki (for the long term) were a decent response. In fairness they identified the weakness and signed Tyler Roberts. What happened ...

Re: Bailey Peacock-Farrell

My hope for him was to get a few games this year and be back up next year after we bring in a new experienced keeper. (Why we didn't keep Rob Green I'll never know). Now I'm seeing him as a possible No. 1 next year, Lonners on the bench, and save ourselves some money we could spend on a striker and ...
