Re: The Music Discussion Thread - Your favourite BEIRUT albums
What would that be 64?
a doped up Morrisey and the Tijunana iron? (they certainly were not good enough for brass)

All three of us have the same four, only in different orders
If we scored those albums 4, 3, 2, 1 on our favourites there isn't much in it & on another day those positions could be completely different
9 Boys Ans Girls
8 Separation Sunday
7 Almost Killed Me
6 Stay positive

Re: The Music Discussion Thread - Your favourite HOLD STEADY albums
Other than the odd track I have on my iPod I've never really listened to/given these a chance.
Given the seeming ringing endorsements all round I'll have to make the effort to listen to some of the albums suggested fully.

Good luck they're a band I couldn't live without.

top 10 HS tracks
Both Crosses
The Cattle and the Creeping Things
Charlemagne in Sweatpants
Stevie Nix
The Swish
Hot Soft Light
Stuck Between Stations
Citrus
Barfruit Blues
Multitude of Casualties
The lyrics are stunning with more quotable lines than any other band. Hell every other band

Re: The Music Discussion Thread - Your favourite HOLD STEADY albums
Well faaip this evening I've run through the 'Top 10' tracks you suggested and a good few others off the albums you, Ges and 64 have recommended and I've got to say I could quite easily live without them.
My god, the singer (Craig Finn, having had to google it) has got to have one of the most annoying/irratating vocal sounds I can recall hearing in a long time.
I seem to remember you saying you couldn't stand the Noel/Liam or understand why people liked Mick Jagger - seems like The Hold Steady are my equivalent to your Oasis/Stones.
I probably give the lyrical eloquence much chance as he bloody voice got on my nerves so much.
Still I guess it's a good job we don't all like the same, else the world would be a boring place
