Held off our venture into my hall of fame during August as a few of of us were on holiday
Here we go again with another excellent underrated band from the 70's on my playlist
Babe Ruth featuring the wonderful voice of Jenny Haan
Favourite Albums
First Base
Amar Caballero
Chart Stats
Apart from minimal chart success in the States, Babe Ruth struggled to gain popularity in the UK
Some nice little tunes here
This song is a journey well worth taking. It's a pity so few do

The reason Babe Ruth struggled so much in England, is at the time they surfaced, there was so much good Rock/Prog/Blues that if you were slightly sub-par, then you never got noticed. There were hundreds of bands touring around England pubs of a similar calibre, and the only reason they got noticed above the others was the singer who is reasonably decent. The musicians behind her, not so good. The keyboards player is dreadful. Wally were a similar band - good musicians but poor vocals and songwriting. If they had got Jenny Haan then they could have made it big.

Aye you could be right, 100's of bands that didn't quite make it in a fierce competitive rock market.
Haan was the focal point of Babe Ruth similar style to Stone the Crows vocalist Maggie Bell
Wally almost made it into the big-time until they were stung financially by their record company.
They played to big audiences in Harrogate & at Bradford St Georges Hall where 1000's saw them blow Leo Sayer off stage as a support band.
I loved Roy Webber's vocals, very Americana!
