Leeds United pair in EFL team of the year

Post by 1964white »

Pontus Jansson received a shot in the arm after being dropped from Leeds United’s side on Saturday as he and striker Chris Wood were named in the Championship’s team of the year

Our best two players :-D

David Stockdale (Brighton & Hove Albion)

Scott Malone (Fulham)
Lewis Dunk (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Pontus Jansson (Leeds United)
Tommy Smith (Huddersfield Town)

Anthony Knockaert (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Jonjo Shelvey (Newcastle United)
Aaron Mooy (Huddersfield Town)

Glenn Murray (Brighton & Hove Albion)
Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United)
Chris Wood (Leeds United)

Hard to disagree with those players selected as they have all performed well over the season

I have seen them all live & also a few times on the telly. All football fans will have varying opinions on who should be in the final X1

Two of the lesser known names the full-backs Malone & Smith have looked decent when I've seen them play. You can't really argue with the three in midfield

Wood & Gayle are class acts in this league. I'm not a big Murray fan however he has scored plenty of goals for the Seagulls

Bizarre that they have picked 3 strikers. Can't recall the last time I saw a team playing with 3 out and out strikers.

I don't think they've picked them as a working team, merely on the quality of their individual play.
A real working team would be a much more difficult undertaking.

Tammy Abraham can consider himself unlucky.

19 goals in 33 games playing for a bottom six team

I'd include Abraham instead of Glenn Murray

Feel a bit bad for Bartley. Not as flashy as Pontus, but equally tough and has played just as well.

Both excellent Dan.....Bartley is a leader, Pontus a better footballer. Unfortunately Dunk was always going to make that team so one misses out unless you play three CB's at the back !
