Saw two good programmes on Sunday, the first one 40 years of the Crucible was all about the world championships over the years with some of the old players talking about their wins or in Jimmy Whites case, 6 final defeats. The second was called the Rack Pack and was the story of the rise in popularity of snooker and the rivalries between players particularly Alex Higgins and Steve Davis who at the time had been discovered by Barry Hearn as a dedicated methodical player or in Alex Higgins eyes "boring". The characters were very well played by the actors with drinking and smoking at every game with the exception of Steve Davis. Well worth a watch on the iplayer.

Will check it out Rich

Steve was always a clean-cut fella, immaculate at the table, very smart casual when I met him in the mid-80's.....a really nice bloke !

Loves his music :sing:

Brilliant 146 break from Ronnie to make it 11-9

Mark Selby will be sick as he scored the highest break 143 this morning

My two favourite players out of the tournament today

Fantastic break from the impressive Ding to finish O'Sullivan off

Too many errors from the Rocket, his safety play wayward at times

Lovely moment at the end as Ronnie whispered in Ding's ear & gave him a congratulatory cuddle :-D

Selby v Ding

This will be much tougher for Ding as I don't think Selby will be as reckless as Ronnie was yesterday. Mark is a much more cautious player playing the necessary safety shots when required, very much in the mould of the great Steve Davis

Should be a cracking match

After saying all the above Ding wins the first frame after a poor safety shot from Selby when in a strong position

Wonderful 68 break from Selby which included an excellent shot with the spider & also a difficult plant shot. Ding did get back on the table & could easily have stolen the 2nd frame.
Clever shot off the cush wins it for Selby

1-1

Just tuned into it after a 1 1/2 hour walk with Zach houndie. I'll be hopping between snooker and Andy Murray....hopefully Ding will stay with Selby
