First signing has to be.......

Monk post match interview

Adam Pope
Garry Monk says "it's hard to be critical. I love these players. Its shown they're not quite ready. It's come a bit too soon. " #lufc
GM says "There's been so many positives. I have my own ideas. The club want to sit down in June & I have to respect that. " #lufc
GM: " We've put foundations in place. You have to build over time. " #lufc

Phil Hay
Monk essentially admitting that when it came to the crunch, the players weren't ready for the pressure. "That's not a criticism of them."
Monk: "The reality is that we're probably not quite ready for this situation right now. The players have done fantastically well." #lufc
Monk said the lesson to learn from today was about playing under pressure at 0-0, not when there's nothing to lose. #lufc
Monk said the squad needs investment this summer and said he'll make his views clear as and when he sits down to discuss his contract.
Asked Monk if he'd rather get on with planning for the new season next week. "It's not up to me." #lufc
Monk did say he wants to stay as head coach - provided he and the club can agree on what needs to happen in the summer. #lufc
Monk on his future: "It’ll be a case of us agreeing on the right way to go forward. I know clearly how I would take the club/squad forward."
Monk: "The objectives we were set have been achieved and even then, probably surpassed." #lufc

Others
Bartley: "If I was to say anything to Leeds it would be to get Garry signed up before any players. If they don't they could be in trouble."
Alan Irvine (Norwich caretaker): "Garry's done a fantastic job and I do believe they'll be even stronger next season." #lufc
Alan Irvine: "At the start of the season if you said to the Leeds fans that they were going to finish seventh, they'd have taken that."

Finishing 7th is a massive improvement this season especially as we more or less started with a new squad.

Monk openly admitted that "his players weren't ready & it all came too soon" he's right of course as I could see a couple of months ago we were not good enough. Even if we had made the play-offs it would have been a step too far for our players !

I've been critical at times of our negative play at times under Monk but i've always insisted next season will be our time providing Garry & our best players are retained plus our board backs him this summer.

Monk has to be our first signing !

According to Alf the players went to the award ceremony and then onto a casino. Spoke to some fans and told them Monk wouldn't be staying and then said the Barca manager had handed his notice in..... :bear:
I'm going back to 505, I saw them at Sheffield and they were amazing.

This notion that Monk won't be here next season seems to be getting more and more traction on social media. Genuinely hope it's just a chinese whisper that has snowballed, as it would be a huge backward step to lose him. Next few months are crucial

There's an awful lot that has to go right in the summer for us to be ready to mount an attack next season. I think Auto is out of the question though because too many big teams with money reside in the Championship and 3 more will come. (Sheff Utd will be no push over either) .

I think this summer is going to be more difficult than we might think, principally because I mistrust this potential stumbling block that the 50% co-ownership represents.

We thought MC had disposable money, only to realise it isn't disposable.

We're told AR has oodles of money (not necessarily disposable) yet there's no suggestion any of it is to be made available for strengthening/consolidation.

Rumour it was maybe, but there was that little gem, purportedly from MC, to the effect that we have enough players.

There has been no mention for a while about ER or Thorpe Arch.

There was a comment from AR, after assuming co-ownership, that they would be talking to Monk, but the only tangible concession to that is that they will be talking in June.

Monk uses phrases like "naturally" when saying everything is still to be discussed (in June). Does this mean that there is no consensus yet on common goals between owners and management team?

Only Leeds could find such parsimonious saviours - I'd bet you couldn't slide a credit card between the cheeks of either of their a*ses.

I just hope I'm wrong, OK?
