Leeds - 151 Shots on Goal 2016/17

Postby 1964white » Tue May 09, 2017 6:35 am

Sky Sports News announcing this stat. Its the fewest shots on target by any club in our Division.

Wood had 103 shots, 54 on target, 27 goals

So the rest of the squad managed just 48 shots between them in a whole season, around one shot per game

Great stats for Woods shame rest of team couldn't match it we may have got into the play offs at least :-D

Not the point mate.

We mess about around the edge of the box with tippy-tappy passes trying to walk the ball into the net, to be frank we are not an Arsenal who have the quality players to create goals like that. We look like we are scared of shooting, weird thing is we practice shooting 15 minutes before every game peppering our reserve keeper but then during the actual match we don't shoot on sight, no wonder we have so few shots on target. You won't score if you don't have a pop on goal unlike other clubs who actually make Greeny earn his corn every game.
Wigan was yet another prime example on Saturday when our fans were screaming for our players to shoot rather than play a short pass sideways or even worst backwards.
How many times have Bridcutt, O'Kane, Phillips & Vieira run deep into the oppositions box to create a goal ?
I can only recall Phillips at Birmingham & O'Kane at Wigan
This is a facet of our game Monk has to resolve next season !!

Without any doubt mate

I know if I was Green, Ayling, Pontus, Bartley, Berardi or Wood who I'd be laying the blame on the ones for the failure of missing out on the top six

You know it's a stat I hate, It tells you nothing at all. Shots that hit the post don't count, great efforts that just wide don't count. Shots that get well blocked or deflected wide don't count.

Shots/misplaced passes that trickle along the ground and the keeper picks up do count. In other words great stat if goalkeepers didn't exist, completely meaningless otherwise...

It's a completely meaningless stat and deserves no attention at all.

TBH it must be very hard to shoot when Wood has been on fire - first instinct must have been to find him.
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.
