FA CUP FINAL : Chelsea v Arsenal

Post by 1964white »

This game was every schoolboy's dream.

Wake up on a Saturday morning with the build-up beginning five hours before the game. It was a massive day in the football calendar

I still can't get use to the 5.30 pm kick-off.......why ?

It should be 3pm

Still a big day for the Chelsea & Arsenal fans who will not want to lose the final to their arch-rivals

Could be Arsene Wenger's last game in charge of the Gooners

Should be a good game of football, by 2 entertaining teams. Much better than the boring affairs when Mourinho's Chelsea were involved.

Don't understand the 5.30 kick off either, other than it being for money reasons, with a time difference for a large viewing audience elsewhere in the world. The interest here seems to be on the decline, other than from fans of the teams involved, like you say Leon it was always a big family event, starting early in the day, remember my mom, who had no interest in football always watched the final and many other moms doing the same, not any more.

I'm hoping for an Arsenal win but think it will be Chelsea.

Of course the kick-off time is designed for TV money. The whole of football is scheduled for TV nowadays. And with the amount of money that is on offer, it will never change.

I reckon it will almost certainly be Wenger's last game in charge, I can't see him surviving even if Arsenal win.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

The kickoff time puts it at 9:30 a.m. on the west coast of the USA and no later than 10:30 p.m. as far east as central India. The FA Cup is of immense interest far beyond England's borders and yes, TV revenue is the concern.

Much to my shame, my son is a massive Gunners fan (it could have been worse, I suppose, but still....), so I will be all for Arsenal today. In any event, with one exception, I can't imagine being a Leeds fan and rooting for Chelsea, at least for anyone of my generation who remembers 1970.

Not offside . Could have been handball.
Definitely the best thing that could have happened for the game.

Great start for Arsenal - good refereeing, another ref might have wrongly disallowed it

Hope they don't regret it.

They're too inconsistent, that's why they're miles off the title each season.
