Change to this site
Don't like this, we have lost half the page....
It was better before when it was only on the home page... IMHO

Just testing layout changes.
I remove the top banner ad a week ago but no one mentioned that.

Re: Change to this site
The ads are there for a reason, to pay for the hosting charges, to pay for the domain registrations etc.
Re: Change to this site
Good point Adam, so should we dispense with using Ad-block on MOT for the good of the forum ?Shields53 wrote:The ads are there for a reason, to pay for the hosting charges, to pay for the domain registrations etc.
Re: Change to this site
I don't use an AD-blocker but the more intrusive ones were removed by Adam after I pointed them out and I really don't mind the odd AD as I know they are there to pay for the site - we get it for free so a little inconvenience is not a problem. It beats a monthly fee.
Re: Change to this site
But how does having ad blocker on (which no one knew about before I mentioned it) affect the revenue from the ads..?
I am one of those people who will not buy from internet adds at all (various reasons, main one being my pension vanished last year). So the advertisers pay you to put up the ads whether or not people will buy their goods, it is a gamble, so me having ad block on is not going to affect the revenue the site gets from them....
Also, the only reason I ever knew about ad block was from this site when Twiggs promoted it all the time.

Re: Change to this site
The display ads are generally paid for by number of impressions, not number of clicks or sales.hector wrote:But how does having ad blocker on (which no one knew about before I mentioned it) affect the revenue from the ads..?
