Re: Collector Mania....
As you most of you know I have a enormous music collection which started by in the 60's buying vinyl. Unfortunately I had to sell my records in the late 70's as I was skint & was looking to take out my first mortgage.
The invention of CD's arrived in the 80's & my love for music influenced me to collect music once again !
I spent stage two the other day sorting out my CD's into some assemblance of order which how they use to be in the past.
I realised there are pockets of notable albums missing by acclaimed artists I enjoy. I look to own as many studio albums of a particular artist as possible
Beatles x 1 short
Bob Dylan x 10
David Bowie x 3
Captain Beefheart x 3
Doors x 1
Jimi Hendrix x 2
Joni Mitchell x 2
Kate Bush x 1
Nick Cave x 2
PJ Harvey x 1
Radiohead x 1
Rolling Stones x 4
Van Morrison x 2 (only interested in Van the Man's works upto 1983
No doubt stage 3 of my sort out will reveal more glaring omissions

Lodger is a grower, wasn't at all impressed when I first heard it, underrated album imo !
I reckon the tune to the highlighted lyrics from the song 'African Night Flight' is used as a football chant by many club supporters over the years
African nightmare one-time Mormon
More men fall in Hullabaloo men
I slide to the nearest bar
Undermine chairman I went too far
Bent on a windfall rent a sony
Wonder how the dollar went down
Gotta get a word to Elizabeth's father
Hey no, he wished me well
Seemed like another day
I could fly into the eye of god on high
His burning eye will see me through
One of these days, one of these days
Gotta get a word through one of these days
Asanti habari habari habari
Asanti nabana nabana nabana
Getting in mood for a Mombassa night flight
Pushing my luck, gonna fly like a mad thing
Bare strip takeoff skimming over Rhino
Born in slumber less than peace
Struggle with a child whose screaming dreaming
Drowned by the props all steely sunshine
Sick of you, sick of me

Re: Collector Mania....
Have some really great collections of particular artists, including all studio albums and many live recordings. They include: Richard Thompson (the greatest English songwriter of my lifetime and, yes, that includes Paul McCartney, as great as he is), Dylan, Los Lobos, and Crowded House/Neil Finn, among others.
But books are more my thing as far as collectibles are concerned. A limited edition signed copy of August 1914 by Solzhenitsyn is probably the most valuable, but my favorites are my first American edition of Churchill's history of the Second World War and my copy of "Band of Brothers" by Stephen Ambrose which was signed by eleven members of Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

Can't think of anything better than being in my sitting cabin,
observing my birds listening to riders on the storm in my big comfy seat smoking a spliff,
I'm at one with the world then, and no sandra saying you think more of them pigeons than me....well
