Racing pigeon update

Post by liggy »

i put a post up about my 3yo dk cheq hen a while back
She flew on a solo chuck from Folkestone 7 hors on the wing in disgusting weather .
I was convinced she would win the blue ribbon event bourges
Anyhoo I sent her away 3 weeks ago no sighn of her,I'm absolutely gobsmacked She's just turned up from the race south of France 3 weeks late totally exhausted covered in dried blood unable to eat, she's obviously been attacked from a ba***rd hawk, normally I would wring a pigeons neck in such circumstances ,
But for the first time in my life I ve cried,
This gutsy little bird has flown from the south of France over the English Channel been attacked and still made it home, she's totally knackered and may not survive but it made me think the animal kingdom is so superior to ours in so many ways

Hope she survives liggy

You can't wring the birdie's neck after showing so much guts, stamina & bravery to get home

Has pigeon got a name ?

Aw Liggy, me nearly in tears too. What a gutsy little darling bird. Hopefully with your love and kindness she'll pull through. ( when me and Mr Swan used to sail across the North sea to Belgium/Holland, about a 14 hour sail, pigeons would land on our yacht for a bit of respite. We would put water for them but they didn't bother with that, just wanted us to give them a bit of a ride ) Keep us informed as to how she gets on.....
