If Wood Goes . . .

Post by Cjay »

Who (realistically) would we get to replace him? :?:
Every passing day seems to look more like he will go, just in case Victor wants some help and pops on here to get ideas :-D
Fee is 20mil, arguments sake lets say 18mil up front with 2mil of clauses

With that high fee any top striker in the championship would be within our grasp

We couldn't afford the wages of a Premiership striker so we can forget that avenue

I think Radz & his team of scouts would look to Europe once again where the market is not as inflated as the English one is. Probably be a striker none of us have ever heard of going by the signings we've made so far !

The problem if he were to go, there isn't much time left to be looking for a replacement, so if he went before we replace him the prices clubs would want would be inflated as they know we're desperate, having said that I'm sure he like every player has his price and Rad and co would already be looking for his replacement, knowing that offer is likely to come. Who the replacement would be I have no idea.

Burnley bid £20m for Chris Wood. Would make him Leeds' second most expensive player sale, after Rio and ahead of Hasselbaink

Tweet from Joe Short, Express journalist, not sure how reliable he is.

To counter that tweet.

ssn just said Leeds turned down two bids from Burnley.
Burnley have made a bid for deportivo la coruna striker Florin And one.

So we're still non the wiser.

Nelson Oliviera-Norwich
Kenneth Zohore or however its spelt (would be my choice).
Leonardo Pavoletti-Not got a lot of game time at Napoli wages may be an issue.

Pavoletti was the guy who rejected the loan here wasnt he? Cant be bad if Napoli paid €18m in January and has 2 Italy caps, also my Italian flat mate said he was highly thought of in Italy (thats the sum of my knowledge apart from youtube tbh).
Oliviera- looks decent for Norwich and half the value of Wood allegedly, doubt Chris Woods twice the player.
Zohore-6ft3 Danish striker younger then Wood, seem to remember he was good when we played Cardiff, played well last weekend against villa and it would really pish of Colin:D

Benik Afobe.
Troy Deeney.
Nelson Oliviera
Fernando Foriesteri.
Sam Vokes.
Personally id be happy enough with the top 4

Zohore is off to Brighton. They've just had a bid accepted.

Deeney is unrealistic. Forestieri has a bad attitude. Vokes won't leave the Prem for us. Not sure about Afobe.

Oliveira would be decent if we could get him.

Said it a few weeks ago if we stick with the target man Gary Madine at Bolton would definately do a job and I feel score at least 15+ goals

agreed. plus they need the money and are under a transfer embargo. Pay a small amount and send Kalvin on loan and Doukara on a free transfer

Deal agreed with Burnley so a very real question of who replaces him now.
15m sky report and Burnley don't want him playing against Sunderland today it seems as well.

This should be an interesting week or two!

One would assume Kemar Roofe or Ekuban starts tonight

I really don't want McCormack back here. Would be a disaster

Until he's officially their player, Burnley can shut the f*** up.

Nugent doing the business for Derby.
Scored 2 today already. Always rated him.
Always a danger.

Oh and *cough* Billy Sharp also got 30 goals
last season and he stuck one away for the Blades today.
Just goes to show you.

I also think that Dicko (what a great name to build a chant around)
the big boy from Wolves would add some bustle up front.
