Chest trap from the keeper from a long ball, why can't he use his hands?

2-0 win for us. Magnificent performance from the defence and forwards. I thought we looked much more cohesive without Wood

Weidwald - 6 - Didn't do much as Janssen, Ayling and Cooper just repel all borders.

Ayling - 8 - Excellent in defence today
Anita - 6 - Did his job but offers less than Beradi going forward
Janssen - 9 - Simply imperious today
Cooper - 9 - Changed the game. 1-0 down and we probably go on to lose

Alioski - 8 - Not my MOTM, but had a great game. Maybe needs better decision making for final product. Good free kick well saved
O'Kane - 6 - Started ok, lost possession on at least 4 occasions and was late on a couple of challenges
Phillips - 7 - Better than O'Kane and more of an attacking threat but faded and slowed
Saiz - 10 - MOTM. Just so much pace and backs it up with the skill and end product
Hernandez - 7 - Injured early but defender well and is getting stuck in.
Ekuban - 7 - Played well but played as an attacking midfielder imo I preferred what Roofe did when he replaced him

Subs

Roofe 7 - Looked much better playing as the lone striker than he did on the wing. Constantly caused the SUN centrebacks all kinds of problems

Dallas - 8 - Cracking headed goal, defended really well
Klich - 6 - Didn't seem to touch the ball much we need to see more

Playing away from home Pennington and Beradi injured and now Hernandez and Ekuban.
First defenders and now attackers. That is four out of the first team squad crocked
TC will have to do some juggling or buy in some new players.

Good commentary lads - thanks for that as always. I really appreciate your efforts and quips.

A great win but injuries are worrying.

we seemed to play OK from what I heard - did we really not miss Wood as much as we thought we might?

Anyway the die is cast.

Great performance after first 20 mins. Cooper is getting better by the game and would be my choice along with Pontus as our starting CHs. Roofe a bit lightweight but puts in a shift. We really look a threat going forward with Alioski and Saiz, feeling quite dizzy

That was excellent to watch. We really are good going forward, and solid as a rock at the back.

Weidwald - 6 - Not a lot to do due to the defenders in front of him, but I'm warming to him.

Ayling - 7 - Steady as he goes. Links well with Alioski
Anita - 6 - Caught out a little early on, but improved as the game went on.
Jansson - 8 - The Jansson of last year without the silly bookings. Like a brick wall.
Cooper - 8.5 - Vital headed clearance off the bar, and strong throughout the game.

Alioski - 8 - Still not up to full speed, but he tormented the Sunderland defence, and a lovely ball for Samu's goal. Loses 1/2 a point for some of his theatrics.
O'Kane - 6.5 - Fairly solid, still going strong at 95 mins. Loses 1/2 a point for crocking Hernandez.
Phillips - 8 - Great all round game for young Kalvin. Loads of tackles, and good distribution.
Saiz - 8 - Such a silky player. Like Alioski, the best is yet to come, when he is used to the rough and tumble. Great goal and assist.
Hernandez - 6 - Looked up for it before an early exit..
Ekuban - 7 - Impressed with the lad. Nice touch on several occasions. Hope he is not badly injured, but it looked like a hamstring.

Subs

Roofe - 6 - Usual combination of headless chicken or on his backside. God knows what Faaip was watching.
Dallas - 7 - Great header for the second, otherwise not too involved.
Klich - 6 - Needs to get fit, but his short spell promised that he does have something to offer.

TC - 8 - Handled the Wood scenario very well. Has the team playing in a solid and exciting way. It can only get better.
Delapsus Resurgam - When I fall I shall rise!
