My Sporting Hero

Post by MissSurreyWhite »

Reporter: "So, Gordon, any plans for Europe this year?"

Strachan: "Aye, me and the wife quite fancy Spain in August."

And there he was. Sitting next to us!

Talking the best midfield in history, 4-4-2 v 5-3-2, Gary Speed (RIP) Spanish beaches, GCSE's, snorkelling and naked sunbathing.

BRILLIANT!

BRILLIANT!

BRILLIANT!

Fitting after Alhambra I met my sporting God.

I couldn't contain myself. I spotted him soon as he came in. No one else knew who he was and he was 3 feet away! I just had to start chatting to him. His wife was so nice too.

He said he still missed Gary Speed. They were pals. :-(

Met my sporting hero when I was about 8, I was very shy back then so just a stupid grin on my face. I've never met a Leeds player but half the 1980's Chelsea team used to go to a mates parties.

Great fella - maybe my 2nd favorite player ever.....once met him in Showcase cinema st Gildersome.

Some superb quotes over the years: Reporter - "Gordon, can we have a quick word", Strachs "Velocity" IIRC
