Leonardo Pavoletti, unwanted by Napoli, almost joined Leeds before. Estimated wages are 15-25k per week apparently but could obvious be tons more. Maybe its him. Bit of a marquee signing if so

Leeds make £6m bid for Wood replacement

Date published: Monday 21st August 2017 3:03

Leeds United have reportedly made a £6million bid for Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede.

Guardian Sport’s deputy news editor Ed Aarons claims Leeds have already tried to replace Chris Wood, who has left for Burnley for an initial £15million.

Gestede, 28, has made four appearances for Boro this season, scoring once and Garry Monk is unlikely to let the former Aston Villa target man leaves without a fight.

The Benin-born forward, who has also collected two assists this term, has a contract with the Teesside club until 2020.

Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is in need of a striker after selling Wood to Burnley and allowing Marcus Antonsson join Blackburn on loan.

Hope that's false.

Leeds have already slapped in a bid for the 19-year-old. NEC Nijmegen's Jay-Roy Grot.
Grot has a further year left on his contract with NEC, who were relegated from the Dutch top flight last season.

Gestede and Jay Roy Grot interest confirmed by Phil Hay, Lasogga deal played down.
Both of them are Chris Wood types by looks of it, 6ft4 target men.
Edit, apparently wrong, Dutch lad is highly rated in Holland and is known for his pace and trickery and ability to play out wide

I'd be happy with the majority of names mentioned.
Look at the players who have resurrected their careers at Leeds after looking lost elsewhere
McCormack
Wood
Jansson
Gradel
I trust in our scouting team to find someone who will fit our system they haven't led us too far wrong so far..

If anyone was to return to Leeds then Antenucci would be the one.
15 goals in the season and then MC forces Evens not to play him
because of some stupid clause in his contract. Quick feet
Fast thinker he just might fit in with Saiz and Alioski... and he has
a beard so he would fit right in.

Ha ! Think it's pronounced Hroat (like Gullit). Reggie would be a good nickname, though.

Behave, he is 33 in two weeks. Also, as part of the "Sick Six" I doubt he would be welcomed back with open arms by the fans.

Shane Long mentioned on a few websites, would love that to happen but if he was available I'm sure a few Prem teams would be first in the queue

With top-scorer Christian Santos departing NEC Nijmegen this summer, Jay-Roy Grot will look to establish himself as the club’s first choice centre forward.

By Michael BellFollow Michael on Twitter

Profile

Grot joined NEC at the age of 10 and worked his way through the various age groups, helping the U18s win their league title back in the 2014/15 season. The attacker’s progress didn’t go unnoticed by the Dutch national team, with Grot a regular at U17 level and part of the Netherlands squad that played in the European Championships in 2015.

Coach Ernest Faber was impressed by the 18-year-old last summer during pre-season and handed the forward his Eredivisie debut as a late substitute in their opening game of the season against Excelsior. This was the first of ten league appearances for Grot last season and he has been a regular for NEC during their pre-season this summer after missing out on a place at the U19 European Championships.

Playing Style

Grot made most of his NEC appearances last season on the wing, where he utalises his pace, power and dribbling ability, but his natural position is as a centre forward.

At 6ft 3 and built like a brick house, Grot can go toe to toe with any centre back in the Eredivisie and has a bright future through the middle as a target man or central striker. Strong in the air or with the ball at his feet, Grot has a bullet header and a strong right foot.

What does next season hold for Grot

With only two first team starts last season, Grot’s ambition for the campaign ahead will be to become a regular under new coach Edwin van de Looi. Whether that be on the wing or through the middle, Grot can be a big threat to any defence in the Eredivisie, and without their stars from last season Christian Santos and Anthony Limbombe, NEC will need the youngster to fulfill his potential if they are to match their 10th place finish last time out.

Scoring his first Eredivisie goal early should give Grot the confidence to have a prolific breakthrough year.

Also apparently a deal to Fiorentina fell through

Antenucci or a player like him would be perfect for TC's system, a natural goal poacher who has a nose to be in the right place at the right time.
