Re: Conor Shaughnessy
Knew nothing about this lad until we signed him (from Bournemouth, IIRC), but I've been impressed with what I've seen and read about him. Tying him down to a long-term contract seems a good bit of business. I suppose the only down side might be for him personally insomuch as, if TC sees him as a back-up CH rather than a midfielder (his natural position), then his opportunities may be limited if Cooper and Jansson are both fit and playing well. There's also Pennington in the mix too. Saying all that, the lad looks a player, so I'm glad he's signed up

Hope you don't mind Swan as I have changed your title-header to be included in the Player Profile topics I've been running over the last month or so. Ironically Conor Shaugnhessy was the next player to feature so thought it appropriate to make a slight changewhiteswan wrote:Has signed a new four year contract through to 2021.....
Re: Player Profile 2017/18 - Conor Shaughnessy
I posted up in the Burnley match topic how Shaughnessy seem to have grown up into man overnight with his impressive display v the Clarets. Conor had put in some decent performances in the limited time he had featured in games although looking raw at times, nothing raw about his game on Tuesday night.
Shaughnessy oozes quality & calmness in his play, always seems to be in the right place at the right time. He reminds me so much of Alan Hansen having similar qualities to the Scottish international.
Conor is way ahead of Cooper when we first signed Liam from Chesterfield, maybe coaching under TC's regime would have brought on Coops progress much sooner !

One thing i like about him is, he seems a strong character..his first few minutes against Bolton weren't good, especially the penalty, some players could have been affected by that but he picked himself up and as gone from strength to strength .

I think I may have mentioned on another thread, that Swannie has had her brain addled by constantly listening to a screeching Yorkie trollop for many years...

A huge attribute to have. The penalty he gave away was shockingly poor but he dusted himself down and played well - even though Bolton were just 3-2 down after the penalty and were throwing everything at us we never really looked like conceding. Against Fulham he had a cracking game. Against Millwall it was hard to judge as so many players were poor but I would have thought he was one of our better players in that match.gessa wrote:One thing i like about him is, he seems a strong character..his first few minutes against Bolton weren't good, especially the penalty, some players could have been affected by that but he picked himself up and as gone from strength to strength .

Well deserved , bar the penalty at Bolton hasn't done much wrong. Midfielder by trade so clearly adaptable.
