Mateusz Klich

Post by Cjay » Fri Sep 22, 2017 8:32 pm

With the form of Phillips and O'Kane :-D

And the excitement of flair players like Alioski and Saiz :rasta:

And the bigger name signing of Lasogga

He seemed to get forgotten a bit, but our first signing was greeted with great excitement after a solid season in Holland :cup

But against Burnley he was excellent, really stood out for me, Jack Cork and Ashley Westwood, over 100 Premier League appearances each, Jeff Hendrick, an Ireland international who Burnley paid over 10million for and Ronaldo Vieira who think its fair to say is one of the most highly rated young players in the league, maybe even the country. :duno:

Klich was the best performer in the middle of the park and for what we paid for him he looked an absolute bargain :clap2:

Wrongly said it was Vieira who started the attack for Sacko to score, it wasnt, it was Klich making an interception, plus the best penalty of the night, plus driving forward, plus tracking back and making many more crucial interceptions and tackles, plus some calm and composed passing and control of the ball. :shirt: :shirt:

Could it be that our fantastic start has been done without our best midfielder?

Could he be our Tom Cairney, Jonjo Shelvey, Aaron Mooy?

Below clip (on the page i dont know how to put it here) certainly suggests room for optimism :scarf1: :scarf2:

Agree, he should be given a start at least ! Also I am not convinced about Lassoga, looks a bit hefty and slow to me, defo no Chris Wood. Also Dallas should start, 100% player which is what we need.

A really good DM is certainly the most important player for a team aiming for a Championship/promotion. For all the excellence of Vardy, Mahrez et al, probably the main reason for Leicester's title win (and Chelsea's) was Kante. If Klich could be that for us I'd be giving him the chance to do it. I'll never forget Batty, or Owen Hargreaves in the 2006 WC - no, England didn't win it but I remember watching his exploits with hope and anticipation for England.

We can but hope for Thomas' acceptance of his gift.

He was the one that excited me the most, polish international, first man through the door, have high hopes for Klich.
Eunan and Philips have done well, which hasn't allowed him time on the pitch, but feel he will be the main man.
Who drops out?

Needs to start
BPF - Beradi - Jansson - Forshaw - Cooper - Douglas - Hernandez - Klich - Saiz - Roofe - Clarke

"objective fan" - is that a consistent oxymoron?"

Agreed.

Unfortunately bet TC sticks with O'Kane and Phillips on Tuesday.

Yeah fed up of TC playing those 2 every match and getting us to the top of the championship. He needs to f*ck off to another club and take them both with him.

Didn't say that.

But they were both poor vs Millwall and apart from Phillips goal neither stood out today either.

Most managers seem to have the habit of sticking with certain players no matter how badly they play. Must agree with Cjay, would like to see Klich given a chance.

If you drop a player for having 1 bad game then it creates a fear amongst players that they can't have a bad game and it leads to then going into their shell and being afraid to take risks and play to their potential. It is great to have Klich knocking on the door and great that we have a very good squad. Same with the (over)playing it from the back if the team is to develop then the more comfortable they get playing from the back then the better we will be - we are nowhere near the finished article and as such there will be times when we loe possession in silly areas and concede because of it but if we persevere then at some point we'll get so comfortable playing it will no longer look risk but make us a team that can keep possession all over the pitch and be able to attack from defence (unlike Stam's Reading style of possession which sees them keep the ball in their own half with no attacking threat).

Let's get behind all the players and let the manager pick the team - he is the one person amongst us that sees the players throughout the week and picks a team that can play how he wants us to play - Klich's time will come but it is hardly like we have lost 4 matches in a row and need to change things.

Last season we saw Monk continually changing his midfield and seemingly dropping Phillips or Vieira every time they had a bad match. It nearly destroyed Phillip's confidence and by the end of the season it seemed like so many players had completely lost confidence in their own ability.

Monk did chop and change to much and it wasnt good for the players, poor from him and give players a chance.
Just dont want to see us go to far the other way and have a Colin situation where he plays his favourites no matter what. Its about balance and i would have liked to see Klich start for his performance against Burnley, but can understand the logic of keeping a settled pairing rather than one who hasnt played together to much.
Full trust in TC, as you say he knows better then us so whatever he decides is ok, just hope he is brave enough to change it if needed.
And i think he would be, he has before made subs when things clearly wernt peachy, he has taken players completely out of the squad when they wernt playing well. 100% behind him and the squad, cant complain to much but can have a little moan :roflmao:

IIRC correctly didn't you advocate the game management of Phillips and Vierra last season was a good thing as they were both so young. Isn't Vierra getting constantly overlooked the same thing? Someones confidence is getting hit, it's almost unavoidable.

Klich suffered from the early season injury or he would be a fixture in the first team by now. We're going to have to wait for an O'Kane injury I would think before the midfield is at it's best, I'm still not an O'Kane fan he's an honest player but there's 50 like him in this division.

Like you I feel TC had shown that he will pick the side he wants rather than having favourites as he showed when dropping/resting Alioski after the international break. Alioski probably produced his best performance, and scored, in the previous match. Likewise he held Saiz back and didn't rush to include him despite his hat trick in the cup. He introduced him gradually and let Saiz's quality determine that he couldn't be dropped - this may well be what he does with Klich.

Yes rotating of young players is good but in the second half of the season it did seem to be that he'd pick Phillips and if he did well he'd pick him again, play badly and Vieira came in and then it was the same with Vieira. Klich missed most of pre-season and because of that Phillips and O'Kane have taken their chance and now it is up to Klich to force his way in. Opinion will always be divided on some players such as O'Kane with several on here singing his praises and others not as impressed. Even today some fans described him as anonymous yet the Radio gave him man of the match.

TC gets to see all the players. How they gel with others, how one player's way of playing may compliment someone else's etc - there is a lot more to being a manager than simply picking the best XI players and hoping that they play as a team.

Somewhat in this camp myself, he has played well at times but not as much as the praise he has received from some player ratings in some places.

Dont get to watch as much as I'd like so i accept others may see more then I, whenever I've seen him he has been ok rather than outstanding.

Strangely since being dropped/rested after his best performance Alioski has struggled a bit. Not sure why that would be but he hasnt shone as much as he did since then, bit better today so hopefully he will be back to where he was soon, Tuesday would be a good day

Difficult to argue with a winning team and long may it continue, but there are warning signs. Yorkshire cricket fans may know what I'm talking about

Always tricky to judge as a manager whether you have a team that knows how to win even when not playing well or whether they have just been lucky and you need to make changes.
