Think Ali needs a rest.

Cant fault his commitment, ran across the pitch closing down that eventually caused our goal.

Probably has ran more then anyone this season.

After that challenge many players would have gone off, was a real cruncher and credit to him for playing on.

He has quality in a spell of 6 games scored 4 assisted 2 (Boro, Villa and Wolves were 3 of those games).

But he seems shot, maybe down to the amount of kickings he has taken but he rarely takes people on anymore.

Certainly missing Saiz, most of our best stuff has been when they have linked up, they take pressure off each other which gives the other space.

But then who comes in?
Dallas- did well at rb but the main argument for him seems to be "he puts a shift in". Ali does that plus has shown quality Dallas rarely has in the final 3rd.

Sacko- Dont think he completed one pass or cross in the final 3rd today.

Cibicki-Shone briefly but thats all.

Jack Clarke- Really impressed yesterday with some lovely runs and crosses but its a lot of pressure to throw him in for these games.

Roberts-Nobody knows when he will be fit, only done some light training.

There really isnt a strong candidate.

Heck should & will bench him after yet another lethargic performance. I can't see him getting a second chance as easily as did under Mr Softie.

Anita in at RB & push Dallas forward

Pleased you now think he needs a rest & time to find his form because at the moment Roofe & Alioski are two weak-links & passengers in our team

Pablo and Dallas can play wide or further forward. Anita can play right back. We looked a different team after Pablo came on too.

I'd be tempted to play Ekuban up front with Lasogga too.

For me he hasn't been as effective since Ayling's injury. For all people moaned about Ayling positional play the fact that he got up the pitch meant that he was taking players away and giving Alioski more space. I do think next season we will see the best of him as he is probably absolutely shattered playing so many matches for Leeds and his country. Next season he will know all about the english game and could excel.

I still like him, he works hard and offers a lot. Tracks back better than Roofe anyway.

He did play better with Ayling, I think the whole team did as he covered the centre halves more too. He was just prone to a couple of bad mistakes every other game or so.

Did a bit of adding up.
Minutes played in all competitions including internationals since the 1st game of the season.
Alioski-2666
Ayling-2500
Phillips-2497
Jansson-2467

Thats top 4, the rest dont get close apart from Weidwald.

Given the amount of running Ali does every game and the kickings he gets, is it any wonder his form has dipped?

Nice performance.

Came on, supported the poor De Bock defensively far better then Pablo did.

Only player to keep up with Saiz on the break, shot wasnt great perhaps down to rustiness having just came on.

But, his reaction to the parry and his bravery to go in for the header were great.

Much better.

Interesting stats, add in to that the fact that the Championship will be a big step up physically for Ali and there is probably a lot of evidence to support him needing the recent sit out and chance to get his mojo back.

Much better.

Defensively brilliant.

Worked hard

Took up good attacking positions

Got the assist . .on another day he has 2 goals, Lassie squares from the wrongly offside one and Ekubans cross isnt behind him.

Owed an apology from Hecky today.

He didnt deserve to be taken off and was only taken off because Hecky made an error in selection.

Pleased to see Ali isnt being torn to shreds. He was one of our better players till he went off imo.

Play him as a wing-back tomorrow

That was better :)

As usual ran himself ragged.

But his attacking threat was much improved.

Hit the post, denied twice by good saves!!! Much more like it.

And he was taking players on, he hasnt done that for months, it brought tears to the eyes

More please!!!!!

His best game for a long time Cjay

Ali worked hard defensively & going forward

That's what I want to see from him on a regular basis

Deserves to start v the Owls on Saturday

Thats the crux of it.

Like quite a few of our players, it isnt Ali isnt good enough, he is. Pablo, Lassie, Ali, Saiz etc there plenty good enough.

They just need to be consistent.

Definitely much improved, he was a real threat, praised on the Reading forum.

When you get good players together they make each other look better. With Hernandez, Saiz and Allioski playing together they make each other better. With Forshaw behind them it begins to make us look like a team. Just need a few more correct selections and we aren't a bad team.

Saiz and Alioski need each other, one without the other really struggles.

Pablo bit different because of his set pieces he can make a difference. Ali and Saiz have a real understanding. If you watch them they are always looking for one another, Ali looking inside for Samu or Samu looking to his right for Ali.

If we can keep Pontus, if we can get Vieira really healthy again if we keep Ali, Pablo and Saiz, if we can find Pontus a partner who compliments him, then we have a good spine for next season.

Another good performance.

Without his partner in crime, good to see Ali playing well without Saiz.

Taking players on, put in decent crosses, tenacious.

Good work Ali.

Ali got back at 2am Thursday morning, can assume he didnt have much sleep or rest seeing as he played Tuesday evening /night.

Thats the sort of commitment i like

Did well today imo.

Maybe should have scored but without him Hernandez doesnt score, Jansson doesnt hit the post (Ali put the cross in).

Good to see him running at defenders again.

He seems to be getting back to form.

All the more impressive given the above from PH
