Pontus Jansson

Post by Cjay »

Is todays player.

Defensive colossus, hat wearing warrior, Cult hero, fan favourite.

The Swedish superman made an incredible impact last season.

He fist pumped his way to near godlike status.

This season, not so much, and concerns about the loan player curse starts to nag.

Sooo where do people stand on Pontus?

Is he simply out of form, or is the lack of Kyle Bartley making his weaknesses clearer?

He obviously is having a lot to do this season and may be finding it harder too.
I don't think he is out of form it's hard when you don't have a regular partner to work with . As we have seen too many others are out of form this present and Pontus and Goal keeper are taking a lot of mistakes.

Pretty much the same player but needs a stronger partner to cover his weaknesses, what Bartley did last season. Tried a few things last season that he got away with not getting away with them now, the yellow card business seems to have taken something away from his game.

He's obviously happy having just signed his new long term deal but something doesn't seem right. Whether TC has told him to curb the antics from last season and cut down on the yellows, maybe. Looks like he just needs to be told to go out and play his natural game and make tackles and get everyone else (including the crowd) fired up.

Should be Captain for me - our strongest personality and presence on the field by a mile.

Ditto find him the right partner and I’m sure we’ll have the real Pontus back

I think that our nomadic RB could be part of the problem, as the other CB whomever it is, has to come across out of position, and ergo Jansson has to move and be out of position also.... It is a huge domino effect...

Sort out the nomad and all will be goo....
Song machine is coming down....
And we're gonna have a party Uhuhu

Pontus needs a decent CB playing alongside him plus Berardi at RB so he doesn't have to cover for our pony-tailed gypo for much of the games.

He also needs to jump into the Leeds end again & regain some of that fire he had in his belly

If you look at successful teams throughout the years, they always seem to have a pair of centrrbacks who understand each others game. It's a confidence thing I think. It's just finding the right pairing which sometimes takes time.

Concur with what's already been said, PJ is getting pulled out of position by our wandering RB. And he's not being helped by the merry-go-round of CB partners he's had. TC needs to pick one (maybe even ask PJ who his preferred partner is?) and stick with it. A partnership takes time to develop. Why didn't we just pay the money for Bartley? :(

He didn't want to stay Nick, Not a fan of Orta but he could do nothing about this.

Fair enough, Ges, didn't know that. I thought it was a case that we had balked at paying the asking price

Was part of the new manager's (Clement) plans at Swansea and as such there was never any way that either Swansea would sell him or that he would drop down a division after being told he was in their plans. I think he started for them before getting injured early in the season.

Sounded like it was a harsh booking too. Seems like the ref had already decided to book certain players based on their reputation.

Yes Pontus went over to the South Stand to calm things down when it appeared to be kicking off after the penalty incident

Won every ball in the air, a colossus today

Fire back in his belly :-D

Pontus is much better player when he is pumped up
