EFL advice

Post by Cjay »

So Orta has got criticized, and rightly so on many occasions for failing to find the right type of player for the task at hand.

Even when he has signed players who should reasonably do well in the Championship or the Premier League, it hasnt often worked out.
Championship Signings
Jordan Rhodes-One of the very best Championship strikers ever when he arrived at Boro Feb 2016, cant fault the logic behind his signing.

Ritchie De Laet(loan)- regular in Leicesters promotion season not long before, did ok for Boro in theres, now at Villa, seems to be regarded as a solid player.

Gaston Ramirez- Crucial in the half a season he played leading up to Boro getting promoted, a playmaker who scored quite a few goals and quite reasonably upon promotion they signed him on a free.

Premiership Signings

Calum Chambers- England international, good player, unfortunately got injured but did quite well by all accounts.

Fabio- Actually did quite well apparently during there Premier League season (according to an article im getting these players from)

Marten De Roon-Highly popular figure at Heerenveen and Atalanta when they signed him, tough tackling midfielder with Serie A and Dutch top flight experience.

Viktor Fischer-extremely highly rated at Ajax, tracked by Europes elite for years since the U17 World Cup, was considered a real steal when Boro got him by anyone in the know in Dutch football.

Victor Valdes- Not much needs to be said, if your Boro and the opportunity to sign him comes up, you take it, did well apparently to.

Adama Traore- Similar to Fischer, highly rated at Barca as a youngster, tricky, pacey winger, young talent, questionable team ethic however. Actually, this season, 7 games 4 starts, 2 assists, 2 Motms

Alvaro Negredo- Class act, he was in his 30s but still a quality player when Boro signed him, did pretty well to.

Championship again

Patrick Bamford- Championship player and young player of the year during his loan spell a few years prior, im sure Boro fans wernt complaining when he signed again.

Rudy Gestede- Didnt work out initially, but before injury had proved a key player for Gary Monk this season and earned the respect of the Boro fans.

So, although not all those signings were resounding successes, there was logic behind them all, each were talented players, who reasonably you would think could do a job at the time of signing.

Thats similar to us i think, if you look into it we have signed talented players, one way or another, but maybe not the sort of players we need.

Would it be better if Radz was to hire somebody to work alongside Orta, take advantage or Ortas contacts and knowledge, but to maybe guide him on the sort of player he should be looking for?
Signed

Thanks :-D

Two sides to every story, he has been the subject of much anger from fans at Boro and Leeds (fairly so at the moment in our case).

But when you look at some of his Boro signings, they wernt bad signings.
