Re: Cardhu gold reserve malt whisky
Just looked up the Strathisla ges, never tried it. Interesting though that I've just read that my favourite blended whisky Chivas Regal has the Strathisla at the heart of itgessa wrote:Lovely stuff Swannie, just ordered 1 off Amazon as i dont do shopping, not often anyway.

Indeed it is 64....just awful. Christmas before last my sister in law bought me a litre bottle of grants...I drank it but I've made it quite clear that any other bottle of whisky will do quite nicely in future1964white wrote:Awful whisky

Give it a try sometime very nice , had a couple up in Scotland earlier in the year. So i thought I'd treat myself when I saw the offer.
Is the Cardhu your favourite.?
Re: Cardhu gold reserve malt whisky
I will give it a try, I'll get Mr Swan to order a bottle from Amazon for me tomorrow. I love the Cardhu, but I love the Laphroagh 10 year old as well, (not the select as it's a weaker product) also Lagavulin, the Islay malts. I have a bottle of Singleton 12 year old on the go at the mo. Mr Swan is a Highland Park mangessa wrote:Give it a try sometime very nice , had a couple up in Scotland earlier in the year. When i fancy one with some heavy peatiness to it, it has to be the Lagavulin 16 year old. Tried some Oban 14 yr old recently too , very nice. A big favourite is the Tomintoul 16yr old Portwood finish, gone expensive though.whiteswan wrote:I will give it a try, I'll get Mr Swan to order a bottle from Amazon for me tomorrow. Can't stand Whisky. I'm a proper beer drinker who hasn't for 12 years. I do own a bottle of Grey Goose I've had two drinks out of in 15 years

George and J.G. Smith's "The Glenlivet" is my favourite (out of the hundreds available) but I also like the blended "Famous Grouse" - it's almost as harsh as "Johnny Walker Red Label" but not quite, and the difference makes it very palatable.

I'm a fan of the 17-year-old Bowmore myself. A friend of mine brought me back a bottle from his UK vacation about 30 years ago and I've been hooked ever since.
