Another track from a very underrated album, very R.E.M...ish!

SONG OF 2017

Country-ish but don't give up on it after the first few notes

Karen Grotberg's vocals are gorgeous

Ray & his band finish off what is a really catchy infectious song

Brilliant

From their best album 'Lowlife'

The instrumental part from 4min 16secs onwards is fecking brilliant, saw them play it at the Hacienda, magic night

Saw New Order at my first ever festival - Reading 1989, compared by none other than John Peel. Pogues were a revelation.

Suffers from being overplayed, same as Love will tear us apart for Joy Division.

Overplayed??

at one point whilst stationed in York... every single pub, club, night club, barge etc that I went to whilst trying to throw as much beer down my neck as possible was playing it.... not only were they playing it, but the bloody extended version of it.... when it was finished they played some other dross and then Blue bloody monday again.....

As you can tell.... not really a fan of the song... ;-)

I'd just give Waiting for the bus the edge over La Grange but nothing in it

The other half is a New Order fan and indeed saw their first set at Glastonbury but I'm not so much. Not a great love of that era electro outside of maybe some very early OMD (Red Frame etc) and obviously post Clarke Depeche Mode, Never liked anything Vince Clarke did.

I knew you wouldn't enjoy it my dear Hector

The Smiths, New Order & Joy Division were three of the great bands to come out of the Manchester during that period but not being a trendy young fella then you'd disagree on those bands too :(

You stick to Alison Moyet

Both really great songs  after Tres Hombres I wasn't a big fan of the bearded band

New Order (their early stuff) better than OMD & Depeche Mode imo :)
