Way too commercial and starts too early - sick of it when it finally arrives, so much pressure on people to have the perfect Xmas - gladly give the whole thing a miss........"Bah Humbug"!

Christmas music piped in
Brussel Sprouts
Gravy made with bisto
Christmas Jumpers
Turkey not Duck
Having to check no one is doing anything wrong in the kitchen
Buying presents and opening presents (I'm with Sheldon Cooper there)
Party games, shudder

that's a start

We've been in a silly situation over the years where we've had to go out and buy something we like, given it to Mr Swans mum, who gives it to his sister, who gives the money for it to his Mum, who gives the money back to us. Said Sister then wraps pressie, gives it to Mr Swans Mum, who then gives it back to us on boxing day! I've tried and tried to end this sillyness by suggesting we don't bother with pressies but it falls on deaf ears! Bah humbug!

Mince Pies
The crowds on Christmas Eve, when the Mrs realises she has forgotten someone's present.

Otherwise, it is all good, although it is not the same since the children have grown up. Still look forward to Boxing Day the most when the football and racing are back.

Don't detest (strong word) anything about it, don't like that it starts in November, don't like it when we're out having a good time and someone in the group sprouts off about how much they hate Christmas and what it stands for etc... which meant i told one of my mates on Sunday to Stfu and not bother coming next year and to piss off to the pub with his equally miserable mates, if you don't like it then fair enough but don't spoil ot for others especially when the kids are around.

It has become a huge commercial event and the buying period is getting longer and longer.

As a retired retailer , my two pet hates were being the last person out of the shop on Xmas Eve ( anything between 8 and 9pm ) . Or being key holder over Xmas . I’ve spent many an Xmas Day in store sorting out alarm problems , freezers and fridges breaking down etc .

I used to work in fire and flood restoration, which often meant emergency work (cleaning, clearing, running dehumidifiers 24 hours a day for weeks and generally getting the place useable again until it could be re decorated, Taking down flooded ceilings and replacing was always fun) at Christmas often working into the AM...

Spent one Christmas in Sandwich in a small battered caravan with only a calor gas heater in -5 weather working on a holiday village chalets (22 of them) Working in sodden rooms after 3 foot of water from a local river flooded them, taking up saturated carpets, sorting out mould, throwing out all furnishings unsaveable. Never been so cold. There for three weeks were were, 4 of us.

Religious and other society leaders talking about how the 'true' meaning of Christmas is love and charity and kindness. That is how you should live your life every day, not just around Christmas time.

Some fair comments there ges, but I think in some cases (not referring to your situation) people are 'expected' to visit, get involved in things when perhaps they would just rather be at home with the telly and a glass of sherry. So, do you stay at home and be called a miserable sod, or do you give in and get involved, sitting there the whole time wishing you hadn't, being called a miserable sod. I know that things have been expected of us in the past over the festive period and I've given in, but now I just say no

I was in the same boat mate spending over thirty years in retail management. In the end I had to get out before I had a nervous breakdown

Christmas begins far too early & I detest the commercialism attached to Christmas nowadays.
