Re: New Club Badge
We're a bunch of old farts aren't we? Nothing wrong with the design it's just not a badge. As Crude says great tattoo, logo on a fan magazine and a bunch of other uses but a club badge should be a little more classic...bring back the smilie LU..
I wonder how many condemned that at the start?

Maggie doing bad in to polls... lets have a Falklands war.Newport white wrote:Rather concentrate on strengthening the team and mull over a new badge in the summer, seems like a smokescreen to avert from lack of activity in the transfer window
George and Tony... lets invade Iraq
It would not be too disingenuous to think that the fans are blowing smoke up their own arses
and deflecting scrutiny away from the last week of the transfer market... they have made a
perfect smokescreen away from the real issue at hand, the need to strengthen the team.
Re: New Club Badge
Took me a while to get used to the smilie badge faaip, but if I bought anything retro now it would probably have the smilie badge on it. I also really liked the peacock badge and the original Leeds city Crest with the hanging sheep...(and the owls )faaip wrote:

Re: New Club Badge
Mind when Man City fans were the first to wave inflatable bananas? It'd be like then turning their badge into a big yellow banana. To get close to the fans.
This badge is a shocker. Like a school project winner.
Leeds is a huge club with a great history. This is an embarrassment and should be undone. The badge should not be gimmicky and juvenile but instead proud and classic. Terrible.

Re: New Club Badge
Is it true that the same company has designed a badge for Liverpool consisting of co-joined twins walking along together, and another for West Ham depicting someone having oral sex with a chimpanzee?
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

Re: New Club Badge
I feel a bit like King Canute telling the tide to go back without success, but lets talk about hand gestures
1) you have Winnie giving the V sign for victory
2) the same V sign during the Woodstock era was a symbol of peace
3) If the V sign was flipped around the other way it was the gesture the english archers made towards the French
at Agincourt for those were the two fingers used to draw back their longbows
Some gestures are made in defiance and others are use as a sign of respect or blessing
4) Christians make the sign of the cross
5) Buddhists will place their palms together and bow their heads and say Namaste
Even popular culture is awash with hand gestures
6) George Bush and the devil's horns so beloved at hard rock concerts
7) Beyonce and her Illuminati hand signals.
Now the "Leeds salute" has an ancient history it was not invented in the Kop
8) It was a salute that Roman legionaries made to signify loyalty
9) In Japan it was called "the warriors bow" and is still practiced today in many martial arts as a sign of respect
So you see gestures have been used down through the ages to convey diverse things such as
peace, blessing, respect, and loyalty, qualities that Leeds fans have shown towards their club.
I truly believe that the management had the best intentions in the world and the new crest
was a salute to the fans thanking them for their loyalty, but for whatever reason their gesture
of friendship has been rejected, and a moment that was supposed to unify the club has turned to
one of discord, disharmony and division.
Shame on you all.
