Match Day squad

Post by Cjay »

First 11 and 7 subs, who would you pick?

The only one you cant pick is Luke Ayling since he is out for the season. Any formation you want.

. . . . . . . . Weidwald . . . . . . . .
Dallas Jansson Penny De Bock
. . . . . . . . . .Vieira . . . . . . . . . . .
. . . . . Alioski. . .Forshaw. . . . .
. . . . . . . .Hernandez. . . . . . .
. . . . . . Saiz . . . . . . Lassie . .

Lonners, Berardi, Cooper, Phillips, Roofe, Roberts, Ekuban.

Thats me.

Hernandez is the best number 10, Saiz can drop and drift to find space. Alioski will tackle and go box to box, Forshaw is good on the ball and will help retain possession. Vieira on form is excellent at breaking up play. Dallas has excellent energy levels and will run up and down the flank all day.
Signed

GK Wieldwald
LB De Bock
RWB Alioski
CB Jansson
CB Cooper
CM Forshaw
CM Phillips/ Vieira
AM Saiz
LW Hernandez
RW Ekuban
FW Lasogga

An attacking formation with Alioski being allowed the license to get forward that Ayling did and with Ekuban in front of him there is speed there and Ekuban has also shown his ability to work back so can at times cover if Alioski goes past him - Dallas could also do either role.

On the left De Bock is better suited to being a full back rather than a wingback so it isn't as vital that Hernandez works back. Ideally PH and Saiz can do a lot of interchanging.

In central midfield happy to go with Forshaw and either RV/Phillips. These 3 can be rotated to some degree to cope with injuries/suspensions/lack of form.

In central defence I would give Cooper the nod over Pennington at the moment.

Subs: BPF, Berardi, Pennington, Phillips/RV, Dallas, 2 from Roberts/Roofe/Cibicki

On paper doesn't look a bad squad. Obvious weakness is the centreback next to PJ and possibly the keeper. Also noticeable that when injuries/suspensions happen we would be pretty threadbare.

Alioski is no full-back/wing-back

Because he's banned, I've left out Samu.

Team for Bristol City game

..........................Wiedwald..............................

Dallas.....Jansson.....Pennington.....De Bock

...........Forshaw (Capt)...........Phillips............

Ekuban..............Hernandez..............Roberts

.............................Lassoga..............................

Subs Lonergan, Anita, Pearce, Vieira, Cibicki, Alioski, Roofe

SIAZ, COOPER & BERARDI have to come into calculations for the Derby game, although only one would make it in my First XI pending on how the above back four play v Bristol City

God help us if Alioski plays full-back/wing-back  he's far too soft to play that role, championship wingers would make mincemeat of him

Congratulations 1964white. This means you're a tactical genius like me.
Well that, or we're both idiots obviously.

Can’t decide between two systems:

Option 1 4-2-3-1
Wiedwald

Berardi
Shaughnessy
Jansson
De Bock

Vieira
Forshaw

Alioski
Saiz
Hernandez

Lasogga
Subs: Lonergan, Anita, Phillips, Dallas, Ekuban, Roberts, Roofe

Option 2 3-4-2-1
Wiedwald

Shaughnessy
Jansson
Berardi

Dallas
Vieira
Forshaw
De Bock

Hernandez
Saiz

Lasogga

Subs: Lonergan, Pennington, Phillips, Alioski, Roofe, Ekuban, Roberts

On current form would have to go for the second option but if Alioski can find some form 4-2-3-1 might be better. Also struggling to decide who I would play up front Lasogga is our best goal scorer but Ekuban suits the lone striker role better and brings the likes of Pablo and Saiz into the game much more than Lasogga does. It’s a difficult one but I would go Lasogga purely because he is the only proper goal threat we have in the side right now (Saiz and Pablo are top class and our best attacking players but neither are big goal threats.)
