England World Cup Squad - Who You Got?

Post by andrewjohnsmith » Mon Apr 23, 2018 8:15 pm

There's a little time left but basing this on Southgate's 3 at the back formation

Butland, Pickford, Forster (Pope)

Center Backs:
Cahill, Stones, Maguire, Smalling, Keane, Gomez

Full Backs:
Walker, Trippier, Bertrand, Young (would include Rose but not sure why he's not playing)

Wilshere, Dier, Henderson, Ox-Chamberlain

Kane, Vardy, Rashford, Lingard, Sterling, Alli
I was there when Batty scored

Still a couple of weeks to go and a few areas up for debate but if the tournament started next week I would go with:

3 Goalkeepers: Pickford, Pope, Hart
8 Defenders: Walker, Trippier, Stones, Cahill, Mawson, Smalling, Gomez, Young, Rose
6 Midfielders: Dier, Delph, Milner, Oxlade Chamberlain, Lallana (if fit if not Shelvey), Alli
6 Attackers: Kane, Vardy, Rashford, Sterling, Lingard, Welbeck

Starting 11 wise I would probably go with something like this set up a bit like Liverpool no real CDM just a really hard working energetic/tenacious midfield if Lallana is fit enough I would start him as he has been brilliant whenever he has played for England :
GK Pope
RB Walker
CB Stones
CB Cahill
LB Young/Delph
CM Oxlade Chamberlain
CM Milner
CM Alli
RW Sterling
CF Kane
LW Rashford
Also a keen Barcelona supporter since 2004-2005 (when they were average.)
