Forest signed Diogo Goncalves on loan from Benfica and broke there transfer fee signing Joao Carvalho for £13-14mil.

Forest fans very excited, expecting to be the next Wolves, fair enough.

But Mendes sent Wolves Ruben Neves- experienced (for his age) player. And Diogo Jota who had had a good season with the Porto first team.

Can compare the Goncalves loan to Jota i guess, although Jota had proven himself whereas Goncalves hasnt really past youth level.

Carvalho is no way like Neves' he is a Benfica reserve.

Would they be so excited if they had spent £13mil on Scott Mctominay from the red lot?

Fair comparison, 2nd placed side in the top league like Benfica but mainly a reserve player.

Predict how The Championship will finish 2018/19
1964white wrote: Wed May 30, 2018 7:01 pm Good idea Cat :moggy: I do think we should wait until a couple of weeks before the start of the season when hopefully we'll have a good idea which teams are making significant signings & also any managerial changes

Would you like to run the competition Cat ?
With the new season starting 3 weeks tomorrow  time to put your thinking caps on and predict how the season will unfold in terms of where teams will finish (from 1st right down to bottom, 24th) next May.
I'll put something up on the Predictions Forum at the weekend, with entrants needing to complete by midnight 31 July, so that gives a fortnight to give some considered thought and take into account any yet to happen moves in the transfer market, sudden managerial changes or any of the other crisis dramas that seem to be part and parcel of the league these days.
Was thinking -
team in correct finishing position - 5pts
team within one place of finishing position - 2pts
Leeds in correct position - 10pts
5 bonus points for getting any of following correct - team finishing top, team finishing bottom and highest scorers

Happy to take on board (or ignore) other suggestions :moggy:

Unsure we'll know where Leeds will finish by 31st July as I think we'll be scrambling around the transfer window picking up the crumbs come the end of August. Right now I've got us in the bottom half of the table :(

I'll be up further in the kop than Leeds will be in the table :roflmao:

We never prepare efficiently in the pre-season giving whoever is the coach enough time to work with his new players before the important opening game of the season. If the loan system was operative beyond August we'd still be bringing in players in September as we did with Pontus Jansson
