so

-------------------------GK------------------------------

----------stopper, sweeper, stopper----------

wingback------------DMF--------------wingback

--------IF------------Engache----------IF--------

----------------------Forward-----------------------

If that's the case we certainly could see, as it stands

------------------------BPF------------------------------

----------Jansson, Forshaw, Beradi----------

Ayling------------Vierra--------------Pearce

------Alioski-------Hernandez----------Saiz--------

----------------------Roofe-----------------------

Based on the players we have, Roberts could play the forward role, Roofe where Saiz is. Probably need a sweeper and new stopper plus a forward as the main concerns there

Dont think that defence is nearly good enough.

Lack of height with Forshaw only just 6ft and Bera below it.

Would Saiz do the required amount of running?

Edit just seen the bottom bit.

Think a new Lw is needed to not sure Saiz has the discipline or workrate to play wide.

Roofe is as good as Alioski imo if not better, he began to look really comfortable on the left as the season ended. He'll also work his arse off though I don't think he or Alioski are very good tacklers but he will close down.

A target we were linked with in January would be absolutely perfect now imo.

Andres Guardado.

4th world cup in a row for him, brilliant vs Germany.

Sitting deep breaking up play and dictating it from deep in midfield.

If we have the money to fund 2 big signings a striker and him would be great.

On reading more of Bielsa's tactics, its paramount that the players need to be interchangable, so when looking at the WB and IF, players would need to be suitable to play both roles, Alioski could do it, but Saiz, no. I think Ayling plays as the RCB.

Ayling will take a lot of coaching in that case, he's not a very good defender

We’ll have to wait and see what he does but that formation is more 5-1-3-1 and if reports are to be believed Bielsa doesn’t play with wingbacks either side of the defensive midfielder he prefers fast pace wide midfielders.

Roofe isn’t good enough IMO, I have a feeling his time is up at ER..

I’ve wanted Roofe to succeed, as a person he is great, true professional who gives 100% but he just doesn’t do it enough for me.

I think until the first games of preseason we will all be guessing at the way the formation works and who fits where. I could see Ayling for example fitting in as 1 of the 3 central defenders (even if it is 3 specialist centre backs) but equally see him as a wingback but his position may end up more being determined by who we manage to sign. I also wouldn't be surprised if 1 or 2 players at the club who we don't think will do well will end up fitting into the system and doing well, sometimes with players they can look like totally different players under a new coach or new system.

I think there is a player in Ekuban, lack of confidence seemed to be an issue in front of goal, new manager and system could well be the key to seeing a big improvement.

Think Vydra would be a great signing.

Despite those saying "yeah but he scored 7 penalties", he still had to score them.

And its a similar amount to Chris Wood, he scored only about 20 of his goals from open play.

Vydra had 15 league goals and 4 assists as a number 10 or a winger, never a striker.
