The LUFC Breakfast Debate (Fri 27 July)

Post by Ellandback1 » Fri Jul 27, 2018 7:15 am

Good Morning Everyone

A Leeds Utd XI came from two goals down last night to beat Guiseley 4-3 last night.

Goals from Kitch, Clarke and a double from Edmondson were enough to defeat the part timers.

Did Leeds make heavy weather of it?

It turns out that Matej Vydra WAS in Leeds yesterday.

The Czech Republic International was pictured enjoying some light refreshment in Leeds City Centre yesterday (where obviously nobody would recognise him).

You don't do that unless you want to be spotted - but why?

Vydra has also changed his bio on twitter, taking down that he plays for Derby County.

Publicity stunt or imminent signing?

According to the YEP, Vydra wants 40k a week, Leeds won't budge on 35k a week.

Thoughts?

Bearing the above in mind, lets not forget that Leeds made big news by agreeing a £20,000 a week contract extension for Hernandez - now they have virtually doubled that!!!

In other news, Leeds have had a 1.2m offer rejected for Poland international defensive midfield player Taras Romanczuk from Jagiellonia Bialystok.

Spanish side CF Badalona have confirmed the capture of striker Adrian Balboa. The 20yo, orinally from Barcelona did not feature last term for the U23's, and has put pen to paper and joined the Spanish third tier outfit.

Morning all, if the wage figures are correct for Vydra then I’m sure a deal is on, they’re not an insurmountable gap. Hopefully we can get the Douglas transfer over the line today

Morning Richard, if we could get both these players over the line, and a 7ft central defender, the league is ours.... :-D

Tyler Roberts is fine.

He was only subbed after 38 minutes of last night's friendly with Guiseley with a view to Sunday's final friendly against Las Palmas.

No injury.

Shin fine.

42 million, can they afford that and how is it justified? 42 times what Cliff got v the Beeb.

Obviously pushing Roofe then for a start, I’d imagine he’ll be on the bench for both Sunday and Stoke

Bit of an afternoon debate for me now!

Not going to moan about (potentially) spending all that dosh on Vydra but all the comments I saw from Derby fans suggest that he operated much better as a 10 rather than a lone striker. So do we still need a striker up top as well, are we going to try and play him up top but in a different formation - trust the guys know what they are doing but seems a hell of a lot of eggs in one basket.

Attacking wise we did well, defensively we looked vulnerable, same as every other game, hence the need for cbs.

Dont like repeating myself but Bielsa's team needs specific player for specific roles, if you dont have those then you are always an accident waiting to happen because you have to shoehorn players into roles they arent suited to, Vieira (5ft10) vs a giant 6ft plus striker for example.

That being said there were encouraging signs, Vieira did ok given the circumstances, Jack Clarke is a real pest, worries defenders, raw but potential, Ryan Edmondson is a big unit, took his goal well, and Mateusz Klich was head and shoulders the best player on the pitch, looked like the international he is.

Wouldnt read to much into Vydra being spotted, he fancied a drink or something to eat and went to a decent place, cant expect him to hide away, why should he.

Give him £40k, he earned it last season, top scorer, its probably similar to what Ross earned when he left, similar to Wood, Villa were paying Lansbury 35k, Jedinak is on 40k, its not an absurd number for a proven Championship player.

I dont believe Hernandez is on 20k or ever was on 15k, he was playing in Qatar before he came here, his club in Qatar pay a little known Brazilian 20k a week apparently, Pablo would have been on more as there big name signing, i think Pablo would have already been on atleast 20k when we signed him and is probably not far of 30 k now himself.

So they spend more money than they should have done, because they were loaded, and the punishment is to make them spend more money - yup system working well bravo Football League.
