Can't pretend i am excited to see Harrison back, he may improve but he may not.
Flashes last season but needs to be so much better more often.
I can see Ali being left back, clearly Bielsa rates him (virtual ever present until he got injured), doubt he will go to a bit part player now.

Re: Jack Harrison
Another player proving the doubters wrong. When will fans stop judging players on a handful of matches and writing them off as being no good just because it takes them a bit of time to adapt to a new style of football, new tactics, a new country etc
Re: Jack Harrison
Delighted to see Harrison step it up from last season and I think he’s only going to improve as the season goes on,

Of course Weasel . Dead right after all the kid is an out & out winger of high substance & value. We'd been harking on this innovated type of player for long enough , oh and he knows where the goal is too.
Great talent.

Re: Jack Harrison
Most fans think new players should be like a shiny new gadget straight out of the box. Most also confuse ability and talent for form. Harrison actually played very well last season and I'm sure I posted somewhere, several times, I would be very happy to get him back for this. I was also one of the few, especially on waccoe, sticking up for Phillips when most there wanted him gone as rubbish..A little bit here too..Ironic I get the thin edge of the wedge now Kalvin is an all conquering, world class finished article soon to embark upon an England career.
Most fans also want instant success even when it's a new owner/manager/football ideology for the club. I'm not "expecting"anything this season, I just wanna enjoy the ride now we're well run for the first time since the late eighties/mid nineties

Re: Jack Harrison
I didn't hide my own frustration with Harrison at the end of last season but the goals/assists return spoke for itself, so I won't say the criticism was unjustified. Though we'd seen scant flashes of his ability it didn't feel like the time for patient nurturing of a precocious talent but rather for a player who could actually make a good contribution to get us promoted and Harrison wasn't that player.
Then the season ended and we got him back. Though a little dubious I trusted Bielsa to know that his faith in Harrison would be rewarded, and that trust in turn is being repaid. Whatever advice Bielsa gave him (strength training over the summer?) seems to have done the trick and we're not just seeing a good player emerge but more evidence of Bielsa's famed coaching, the kind that has produced a list of world class players as long as my arm.
Still early days but so far I'm very surprised and delighted at Harrison's consistency. May he continue to prove me wrong and Bielsa right.

Re: Jack Harrison
Probably get criticised for this but.
Jack Harrison, what does he do?
He looks fitter and stronger i will give him that and was great vs Wigan.
But he doesnt score goals, doesnt create goals, rarely goes past his man, well he does but then he turns back on himself and loses it.
His end product is dire, Ali and Dallas have as many goals and assists as him from full back.
Wasnt keen on him coming back and he sparkled briefly since but all to briefly.
Genuinely interested in what he does apart from fit the system?
Forshaw fits the system to, he doesnt have any end product.
Thats 2 attacking players with no end product, and we wonder why we dont score enough?

Re: Jack Harrison
His successful take-ons ratio is pretty low and his delivery hasn't been great recently, not when you compare to Costa anyway.
Thing is we know he can do it. We know he can score goals, we know he can deliver god balls he just isn't consistent. Which I suppose is why he is at Leeds not playing at City.

Re: Jack Harrison
Assists are very subjective stats. For example some gave Forshaw an assist for when his header hit the post and Bamford scored. An assist is only an assist if the goal is scored so it can be a great pass but if it doesn't result in a goal then it isn't an assist.
I don't think there is the huge need for panic. Yes yesterday was deja vu in terms of what went wrong last season but at this point we have to hope it is only a blip, there will always be days when no matter how much you dominate you just wouldn't score even if the game went on for 5 hours.
Defensively we do look loads stronger than last season. We have yet to be really cut open and that gives me hope that we can get more 1-0 wins when we miss 20 chances but we crucially don't let the opposition score. Yesterday's concession just seemed like bad luck more than anything as we seemed to keep clearing it only for it to keep falling perfectly for the opposition and then a scuffed shot trickles in. Reminded me a bit of the Sheff Utd loss where we hit the post and had the better chances only for us to concede a goal from a mishit shot (contrast the Sheff Utd goal when the player slipped as he was hitting it to Eddie's chance where he was falling as he hit it but his shot missed).

Re: Jack Harrison
His holding onto the ball too long is down to Bamford being too slow to get into position, Harrison best with Roofe. I think Costa has hardly played with Paddy, would be interesting to see how well he'd get on but I've lost count of the times Pablo has got into the box and Paddy arrives too late for a quick cross
