Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
The Revie XI plus Madeley & John Charles should be in the first thirteen greatest players
15th Paul Reaney, 16th Terry Cooper, 17th Mick Jones, 21st Bobby Collins, 23rd & Tony Yeboah in 23rd.....we're having a laugh aren't we ?
Our three greatest players
Charles
Bremner
Giles

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
Pablo Hernandez should be in there somewhere.
At times he has carried us since he has been here and is definitely the most technically gifted player we have had since the Prem days imo.

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
I think it’s always skewed by the generation voting, hence more of the team from the late 90s being present and higher up the list than they probably should.1964white wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 9:53 pm The Revie XI plus Madeley & John Charles should be in the first thirteen greatest players

That’s the reason for revisiting it really.
Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
True, unless you've seen every era it is impossible to make an accurate assessment
I never saw John Charles play however I realise he was probably above my heroes from the Revie team
Not one player over the last 40 years could replace one of that great recognized 60's/'70's Leeds team. The likes of Strachan, McAllister, Batty, Yeboah, etc would make the bench, that's as close as it gets for the best players outside the Revie-era!

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
I dare say Martyn is probably the best keeper we've ever had, though in terms of achievements he obviously doesn't come close to Sprake or Harvey.1964white wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 7:43 am True, unless you've seen every era it is impossible to make an accurate assessment

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
Some would suggest that Becchio should be included .

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
12 on the all time goal scoring lists , certainly in with a shout.
Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
I really liked David Harvey probably the best imo!
Sprake was brilliant on his day but his mistakes were nothing short of a calamity which cost us a couple of trophies

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
I wonder who that "some" would be?
Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
Not necessarily our greatest player but definitely my all time favourite is Eddie Gray. I had the pleasure of having a good chat to him before the game at Colchester a few years ago. A game that we won 1-0 through Becchio

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
I'd have Viduka higher than 19th by the way

How has Masinga got in front of those two?

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
Whilst on holiday I read 'Keep Fighting The Billy Bremner Story by Paul Harrison'.
I didn't realise the extent of the low opinion that Bremner (and clearly many of the others in the team) had of Sprake. His team mates obviously saw him as the weak link and albeit in the book Bremner acknowledges that every so often he would have a good game, the number of costly mistakes clearly heavily outweighed the match winning saves. But seemingly the main thing that annoyed them was that Sprake took no accountability for his errors and always sought to pass the blame.

Re: 100 Greatest Leeds Players
Might have something to do with him selling his soul to the Daily Mirror for £7,500 in 1977 accusing Revie of match fixing.Muppet the Cat wrote: ↑Sun Aug 19, 2018 9:57 pm Whilst on holiday I read 'Keep Fighting The Billy Bremner Story by Paul Harrison'.
