Saturday evening treat for pudding...………..an Arctic Roll (at the time the height of culinary decadence)
Cresta - it's frothy man
Birds Eye Super Mousse (in the annoying shape plastic pots that made it really difficult to get the last bits out - so you resorted to your finger)
Green Shield stamps and later Co-op stamps and the horrible taste when my Dad made me stick them all in
Collecting Esso football club stickers (could never get the Derby County one but had about 20 Blackburn Rovers) and the World Cup and FA Cup coins
Top of the Pops on a Thursday evening (esp. early 70's Glam Rock era)
Blue Peter or Magpie
Only 3 TV channels (which was never an issue when you knew no different)
Only football on TV being MotD (Jimmy Chin) and the odd treat of a European match on a WEdnesday on Sportsnight, with Harry Carpenter
Being out all the time - with friends/on bikes/ playing footie/climbing trees/messing on building sites/making dens etc etc..
First holiday abroad (Tunisia in 1973 - my Dad always reminds me it cost £39

for a week at the hotel Sinbad in Hammamet for the 4 of use - me, Mum, Dad and sister)
Power cuts and having to use candles/ night lights
That music was better when I was a kid than now
Ford Cortinas (my Dad had a Mk I up to a Mk 4 or 5), but my favourite was an orange Mk 3 - classic 70's
That our first telephone number only had 3 numerals - York 217
That the flares on your jeans had to cover you trainers
Wranglers/Levis/Lee/Brutus (do they still make Brutus jeans ??)
Leeds being good (in the main)
73/73 - Div 1 Champs and Manure relegated
Not wanting to move house when I was 10 (York to Lincoln)
That's probably enough, when you think back, you could go on and on...…... (although there probably is an element of rose tinted spectacles there - I can't see my kids looking back fondly on having no power and only 3 tv channels)
