Right then lads and lasses, I just wanted to ask opinions on this chap as its divided and I got absolutely slaughtered on social media for voicing an opinion on him after Fridays game.
I wrote - "Sorry, but Saiz has been crap."
Okay granted I dont mean he is crap as in he is useless, are he had a particularly bad game at Wednesday. I mean lets be honest for a second he has been one of the best players to wear a Leeds shirt for a very long time no question, however with a player of his ability becomes great responsibility and expectation, and Im sorry I don't believe he has been producing anything near his best. He seems to give the ball away quite cheaply at times, doesnt like a tackle, granted not really what hes there for but if you give the ball away at least try get it back,,,, his final ball is either over hit or its just comes to nothing. The end product seems to be really lacking. Fantastic little footballer, can beat a man no question. I have just found him so frustrating to watch in the past few games. Just wondering what everyone thought really?
I mean it goes to show you how far we've come really,, have a little moan about a player of Saiz quality. Laughable really in the great scheme of things, but you get what I mean right? Just do the simple things will ya,,,, and once pull the trigger once in a while for crying out loud!!!! Look at Birmingham against us,, 2 very poor efforts, but both went in. Have a crack ya never know.

Saiz is frustrating at times due to the lack of end product when you'd expect more
After saying that he must be a nightmare to mark as he is always prepared to take on his man no matter how close they are to him, he reminds me of Gordon Strachan when he runs with the ball, probably the low-gravity effect. At times he is brilliant with some sublime passes but fannies about around the edge of the box far too often. Saiz needs to practice his shooting as he tends to scuff his shots, also needs to show the composure of Klich who finds space choosing the right time to shoot whereas the majority of Saiz shots are predictable & generally blocked.

Saiz can be a bit frustrating at times, holding on to the ball too long when a pass is on but there's no doubt he wears his heart on his sleeve and gives his all.
Look how disappointing he was to be subbed on Friday. He wanted to still be out there trying to find a way to get the winner.
When he's on it he's brilliant and I think we're lucky to have him.
There's still question marks over his temperament at times and you feel he is one wrong word to a referee away from a sending off but once we get Pablo back it will take some of the pressure off him to be at the absolute top of his game all the time

Now I've only seen Saiz when Leeds have been live on SKY which is quite a few times and looks Leeds best player by a long way he could be the difference in Leeds going up or not,an injury to Saiz and say good bye to promotion unless a few good players come in during January

I believe we are missing Pablo & Roofe more than we'd miss Saiz. Also think Klich & Jansson would be massive losses

I think one official stat tells it all
Samu Saiz - the only player with two "name" threads on MOT...officially inducted to MoT's HOF

I'm fairly sure it's less about Saiz's final pass more the ability of others to understand what he's doing and get on the end of them...He also draws double coverage a lot of the time so making space for others...Three technical assists in the last three games IIRC...Ball to Klich was clever to set up Roberts, Ball to Alio to get us back in the game last week and finally key in Klich' equalizer Friday ...

I think what Faaip says has an element of truth to it as it needs players to make the runs for Saiz's throughballs for them to work. A lot of the time the player doesn't make the run so Saiz either threads the pass to nobody (into the gap where the player should have been going) or holds onto it too long as he waits and waits for the player to make the run.
I am surprised at Saiz not scoring in the league this season but the optimist in me is looking forward to how good we will be when Saiz does hit top form again.

Alioski does but far too early, caught offside more than other player in the championship

Think Saiz is a bit overrated by some of our fan base imo.
He is a very good ball carrier and can play some excellent passes.
But he has a tendency to over play, overhit or just ignore passes.
Think its clear when you watch Pablo who has played at the top level and how he passes and sees things, Saiz in his late 20s hasnt played at that level and its evident why imo.
On his day he is brilliant. But not consistent enough.
