I actually went in to see if they (Terry's Music, Pontypridd) had a copy of the new Specials album, Encore which was released a couple of days a go. Especially as it's their first 'new' album for over 35yrs. Their first album remains firmly in my Top 10 albums of all time. Anyway, as he's closing the shop at the end of March (another small independent record shop closing ) he hasn't ordered any new stuff in since the New Year, so didn't have it.

The consequence being that I started thumbing through all the LPs he still had in stock and ended up getting 17-11-70, as well as Elton's self titled first album (a replacement for my existing copy which is knackered) and Fleet Foxes x2 album Crack-Up.

The 2 Elton albums were priced up at £20.99 and the FF at £23.99, but as he's closing it's 25% off everything so he charged me £49 for the three. So to answer your question (eventually) 17-11-70 cost me £15.75

You can probably get 17-11-70 cheaper on Amazon etc....but I do like to support a 'proper' record shop :moggy:
Nice one Cat

That Elton self titled debut album is my favourite EJ album.

Was playing Crack Up last week, still prefer the Foxes first two albums

Rough Trade Records in Bristol

Moth Club - Hackney

12-13 quid a ticket for one of the best new-ish bands I've heard on record for quite a while. No idea of their live credentials but if your close has to worth just over a tenner

Car playlist

New arrivals

Rustin Man 'Drift Code'

First new release purchase of 2019

Seventeen years after former Talk Talk bassist Paul Webb made his first record as Rustin Man – Out of Season, with Beth Gibbons – he’s finally released a solo album. Sounding very much like Robert Wyatt vocally. Interesting !

Alt-J 'This Is All Yours'

A wonderful atmospheric album

Others

Alice In Chains 'Jar of Flies/Sap'

Love this album.........any other AIC albums similar to this ?

Elbow ' The Seldom Seen Kid

Grown on me, went back to this album when Gandi posted up 'Mirrorball in our Mega-Song Polls

Masta Ace & Marco Polo 'A Breukelen Story'

One of the best from 2018, wonderful hip-hop album. Thank you Faaip

Indoor playlist

Some of my favourites from 1974

Robert Wyatt 'Rock Bottom'

One of the great acquired records of all-time

10cc 'Sheet Music'

Such a underrated band/album

David Bowie ' Diamond Dogs'

The man is a genius in my mind

Supertramp 'Crime Of The Century'

Their best work, never bettered

King Crimson 'Starless & Bible Black

Love the song 'The Night Watch'

Joni Mitchell 'Court & Spark'

One of the all-time great singers/songwriters, lovely album

Brian Eno 'Here Comes The Warm Jets'

Eno's excellent debut album after his split from Roxy Music

Stevie Wonder 'Fulfillingness' First Finale'

One of the magical run of Wonder's five albums during the 70's

Rolling Stones 'It's Only Rock 'N' Roll'

'Time Waits For No One'

Barclay James Harvest 'Everyone Is Everybody Else'

Delicious mellow rock from BJH, their best work

Love Everyone Is Everybody Else, also Octoberon, Time Honoured Ghosts and Gone To Earth. They do bittersweet as well as anyone.

Also been listening to Starless, Lark's Tongues and Red.

Can anyone recommend a jazz album. Not loud or screechy, music only - no vocals - would be ideal as background music. I love the saxophone....maybe gentle vocals would be ok....?

Everyone Is Everybody Else is such a underrated album, Gone to Earth is my second favourite Sara. I'm surprised more folk on here are not fans particularly as they are a guitar orientated band

A Crimson fan too eh ?

Grover Washington 'Winelight' is a smooth jazzy background music album.

Swannie, you cannot go wrong with John Coltrane's A Love Supreme. An album everyone should listen to at least once

Excellent album Nick

Difficult to recommend jazz to those who don't generally listen to this genre of music as there are so many variations of Jazz

Coltrane, Ornette Coleman, Pharoah Sanders, Weather Report etc are all favourites of mine but whether the casual listener would enjoy them is another matter !

Although Kenny G maybe what Swannie is looking for, as I said in my last post it's difficult to recommend jazz that appeals to everyone !
