Only good thing in that game was Bamford coming back and scoring. Leeds seem to brick it when they are in sight of a win. They seem to lack confidence which in itself gives the opposition confidence and a slightly better team would've got at least a point against Leeds today. Bit of a wake up call coming next week but hey ho...5 successive wins ,only 1 conceded and a nice cushion developing to 3rd.

Credit Jack Clarke who carried the ball a hell of a long way in the build up to the goal.

His time to start has to be coming, thought he was good again.

BPF - 7 - Some good some dodgy, nothing to save though

Shackleton - 8 - We have a player there, not sure Ayling gets back in
PJ - 8 - Defensive masterclass but still too slow to turn defence into attack
Phillips - 5 - Poor again substituting at CB.
Douglas - 7 - Overhit a few crosses today and got himself in trouble playing out of defence at times
Baker - 4 - Started brightly with one piece of nice interplay then struggled...needs space and time to be effective
Klich - 7 - Quiet at times but still a class apart
Forshaw - 7 - Started very poorly but did get better once Baker came off. still very profligate with possession in our third.
Alioski - 4 - He needs a rest and a rethink ..very poor today and really only his fouls and back chatting to the officials would let you know he started (and shockingly finished)
Hernandez - 7 - Some woeful passing in the first, a small improvement in the second but he along with Clarke unlocked the defence for the goal. I'll forget the defensive giveaways because he got them back himself
Roofe - 6 - Starts on 6, finishes on 6. Stays on and he gets on the end of that delightful Hernandez chip. No idea why he came off when Alioski was still stinking the place up. Fortunately we got the goal, but he's still the most likely to score.

Clarke - 9 - Another gem here, and a mouthwatering preview of what's to come when he finally starts. Created the goal, Pablo gets the assist

Had the game on in the background so didn't watch too much but great bamford scored. Fully expect him to come in now and displace Roofe, who'll hopefully adjust to a wing role in place of alioski who's awful

Guaranteed to be in the top 2 at Christmas...who would have thought it?
So good to have Bamford back, he's an exceptional finisher at this level.

I don't, why would we displace our top scorer ?
Last season Roofe was played in all postitions exept where he is playing now, and this season everyone has said how much he is improved, so why would we ship him out to the wing??

I'd expect whoever plays the central striker role to be top scorer. Decent player but don't think he's suit to playing in the centre by himself, doesn't hold the ball up well enough. He's done well don't get me wrong, but you'd expect any striker in a team that creates as many chances and has as much possession as we do to score goals.

Just think bamford would be better suited to the role, move Roofe out wide and retrain him there or keep him as backup and have roofe and bamford pushing each other for the position. Roofe probably could do with a rest anyway

First time we've won 5 in a row since League One promotion season. Can't help but wonder how far ahead we'd be if we kept Pablo and Bamford fit all season. Anyway 6 above 3rd, 11 above 7, although Forest have Derby on Monday, so hopefully a draw in that one.

We've been saying Clarke has needed to start for months now but Alio keeps his place. Roofe will keep his until injury or a bad baron goalscoring patch. I think he offers a bit more at this level ...well taken goal today but Bamfords other work wasn't that good.

I think Clarke will start either v Blackburn or Hull. Bielsa will mix it up because of the quick schedule.

Like others, this reminds me a lot of our L1 promotion season when Beckford was superlative and we were competing with Norwich for the top spot. It's a long time since we've had this kind of run - it may not be pretty but 1-0 will do for me.
I hope we don't have the jittery 2nd half of the season we had that year though.

Beckford was also highly criticized as a needs 4 to score 1 finisher plus he'd go games without scoring..

Worryingly Pontus hobbled off at the final whistle, no crowd pleasing moment from the big man as the players were applauded off the pitch

It's so disappointing that radz seems not to want to support the squad in January by getting a few additions in. We're in such a great position to kick on.

Would give bamford a start next week, scored today, Roofe not scored in four of last six, and bamford got a Hattrick midweek for the u23s too. Think Roofe will start though next game, has been decent this season and probably would be a bit harsh to drop him and so would prefer him to still play but instead of alioski. Perhaps bamford isn't fit enough yet either.

Good stuff though, grinding the results out!

Top of the League ! Can't argue with that BUT although its great 'grinding results out' it would be a relief and confidence booster to actually play really well and get a 3-0 result sometime OR am I being greedy :duno:
