Leeds have to steer well clear of injuries and suspensions if they think this first team squad will get promoted. Not enough strength in depth..again !

It's called doing things on the cheap BG

A Leeds mentality that every owner who takes over seems to inherit

At least two or three players short, so bl**dy obvious, what do I know ?

I only input £1000's into my beloved club year in year out !

Kiko Casilla
Kamil Miazek - U23

DEFENDERS
Liam Cooper
Gaetano Berardi
Leif Davis - U23
Barry Douglas .
Pascal Struijk - U23
Bryce Hosannah - U23
Clarke Oduor - U23

Ben White - Season Loan from Brighton

MIDFIELDERS
Adam Forshaw
Ezgjan Alioski
Stuart Dallas
Pablo Hernandez
Mateusz Klich
Kalvin Phillips - 20M bid from Aston Villa turned down.
Jack Clarke - Sold to Tottenham for 9.5M plus add-ons. Loaned back to us for the season
Jamie Shackleton
Mateusz Bogusz - U23
Alfie McCalmont - U23..
Jack Harrison - Season Loan from Manchester City, with an option to buy.
Helder Costa - Season Loan from Wolves, with an option to buy..

STRIKERS
Patrick Bamford
Ryan Edmondson - U23
Kun Temenzhukov - U23
Rafael Mujica - Signed from Barcelona on a free transfer.

Players in bold are pretty certainly u23 players unless a crisis occurs.

Removed players who we know are injured for the first month at least like Roberts, Roofe and Ayling.

Also removed players who are even further down the pecking order and are certainly u23s and u18s.

So is it two senior players per position then supplemented by youth players?

GK-Casilla and Miazek (think BPF is off)

Rb- ? (Dallas) and?

Lb- Douglas and Ali. (Leif Davis u23 backup)

Cb (×4) Cooper, White, Berardi and? I would say Struijk but he hasnt actually been given a squad number neither has Edmondson.

Dm- Phillips and Forshaw (McCalmont u23 backup).

Cm- Klich, Shacks.

Am- Hernandez and ? (Bogusz as 1st u23 back up.).

Rw- Costa, Clarke

Lw- Harrison, ?

St- Bamford ? (Edmondson has no squad number so maybe Kun as u23 backup).

So do we think that is it for the first month as it stands?

Thats 16 first team players, then Ayling, Roberts and Roofe are missing so that would be 19.

Still 3 short which isnt far off the 2 that we voted for in the needed signings thing?
So we have to start with :

One recognised RB
Two recognised CB's
One striker

and a million midfielders

Absolutely right 64. Getting a top class manager in and not giving him the tools to do the job is beyond belief or is it a case of MB underestimating what's required for promotion from this very tough league...may be both. I don't believe Leeds have problems financially where ffp is concerned it's purely a case of AR wont put anymore money into 2 vital areas, CB & striker is all that's needed imo. He will sell up next year I'm convinced, so trying to second guess him he will fill his boots in January if the season looks doomed otherwise he'll hope for the best with no further investment and sell up if we don't go up or even sell up anyway having made a tidy profit.

Just noticed these players numbers still not allocated are: (Which shows we are light)
8
12
14
16
18
20
21
Is this significant that signings are on the way ?

You all do realise that MB wants his players to be multi positional, that's why we struggle to pigeon hole the U23's. MB plays a sort of total football where defenders can play right across the defence and have to be mids as well, wingers need to play full back and vice versa, DMF become CB's if needed or AMF's if needed. Strikers have to learn to defend

We can no longer say so and so isn't a RB, CB, DMF because they're all being retrained to play those roles too.

We have 6/7 players that can play right back to a championship standard and they're getting better. Dallas is growing into the role, and it's not unheard of for wingers to switch to full back late in careers.

Square peg in round holes has been an issue before I agree, it's not as important, other than the learning phase, in Bielsa's system. It's amorphous shapes into amorphous holes now..We have to trust the process or we call for MB's resignation... and I ain't doing that anytime soon

Yeah - the main reason for that is due to how fluid our shape is organised, and how Defense / attack adapt over three different phases to become different positions and roles. Phillips moving from CDM to CB depending on the role of attack is the most obvious example of this.

Can someone please explain FFP to me, because I really dont get it. WBA, Derby, and a number of other clubs are spending more than us, with lower gates, lower TV revenue. My understanding is that we dont pay big wages and we have sold £60 million in players over 2 years: wood, taylor, viera, and 16 this year. How on earth is FFP kicking in?
