Create a Transfer Rumours Sub-Forum
The transfer rumours thread becomes very large. Discussions about different players get mixed together and because there are so many posts it is easy to miss a discussion and post duplicate information.
I think we should have a separate sub-forum dedicated to transfer rumours. This could be positioned at the same level as General Chat, Alternative News, Drunken Rants etc. When a rumour emerges about a specific player, a new thread could be started. This also has the advantage of collating discussion about the same player over different transfer windows e.g. Alan Smith.

While I agree to an extent, isn't that a bit like the old 'separating the football from general chat' argument?
We'd also fall into the trap we already fall into, in that there are actually a hell of a lot of MOTers who don't know that anything other than the general forum exists.

Create a Transfer Rumours Sub-Forum
I think Anna is right. Good in principle but there will still be posters who will steam right in without looking at the other forum. We'd get just as many separate threads on here.
I don't think we should expect posters to look back over umpteen pages of the transfer rumours thread before posting a rumour but in this case the rumour was extensively debated on the final page if that thread and the link about Sandra Cruise had already been posted about three times. It's not like the thread needed hoofing from page 2.
Not too much to expect is it?

Re: Create a Transfer Rumours Sub-Forum
It's a reasonably consistent source of frustration, that people aren't capable of reading down a few topics to see if there is already a related thread before reading. Not sure we're going to eliminate it though...

Re: Create a Transfer Rumours Sub-Forum
Don't think we need anymore sub-forums. We have a good flow of topics and posters in the general forum. If it isn't broke, don't fix it, just read down some of the threads before posting.
