You have to look back to the 2008-2009 season to find Leeds scoring three hat-tricks in a season, that season they all came courtesy of Jermaine Beckford against Chester, Northampton and Yeovil. Prior to that was 1995-1996 when Tony Yeboah bagged three against both Monaco and Wimbledon and Gary McAllister scored a hat-trick against Coventry. Further back 1992-1993 (Cantona v Spurs, Strachan v Blackburn and Wallace v Coventry) and 1984-1985 (Ritchie v Oldham & Wimbledon, Wright v Notts County).

A hat-trick of hat-ticks is not a common thing but not yet half way through this season and we have seen our third hat-trick. The first coming from Samuel Sáiz on his debut against Port Vale. The latter two both from Kemar Roofe, the first in the League Cup against Newport and the second in the Championship against QPR. With the attacking options available to Thomas Christiansen this season it’s not inconceivable that these will be the last but here is a reminder of what we have seen so far this season.

Leeds United 4, Port Vale 1 - 9th August 2017
Samuel Sáiz (12, 60, 62)

Samuel Sáiz marked his Leeds debut with a hat-trick against Port Vale in the the League Cup. The Spanish midfielder slotted home his first after Stuart Dallas cross came back off the post, rounded the keeper for his second and then fired into the top corner to complete his hat-trick. Thomas Christiansen said; "Saiz is a player who enjoys it with the ball. If we have possession, if we move the ball, he has the quality. He's intelligent and is a good finisher also."

Leeds United 5, Newport County 1 - 22nd August 2017
Kemar Roofe (44, 49, 65)

Leeds came from behind to see off League Two Newport County in convincing fashion in the League Cup thanks to an impressive hat-trick from Kemar Roofe. Newport started the game brightly and were rewarded with the opener but just before half-time Leeds were level when Newport failed to deal with a corner and Roofe was alert to slot the ball home. Leeds wasted no time after the break with Roofe volleying home his second before executing a spectacular bicycle-kick to complete his hat-trick.

Queens Park Rangers 1, Leeds United 3 - 9th December 2017
Kemar Roofe (63, 68, 94)

Kemar Roofe scored a seond half hat-trick to give Leeds United victory at QPR. The former Oxford United forward powerfully headed home Ezgjan Alioski's cross before adding his second when he finished sub Pawel Cibicki's centre. Keeper Felix Wiedwald made a horrendous error to allow Pawel Wszolek's cross to bounce over him to give the hosts late hope. However, with the R's pushing on Samuel Sáiz broke away and Roofe showed composure to finish his hat-trick.
