Life is good at Elland Road. Despite a blip against Birmingham last weekend, the club sit top of the league and have a huge chance to go all the way and regain Premier League status. Between now and the end of the season though, Marcelo Bielsa needs the club to be at all systems go, and that will require further improvement in January.

That’s especially because those odds will continue to shorten if Bielsa can get the club back on track following just one win in four. There are only a few months until January now, and speculation continues to build as to how Bielsa will keep the club moving forward and bring in some fresh faces.
Nick Powell
Nick Powell is one player who’s been linked with a January move. The Wigan midfielder was subject to Leeds interest in the summer, and with his contract running out at the end of this term, the club may be interested in getting in early.
He’s started the season well so it would be shrewd acquisition, particularly if they can take him on loan before a permanent move ahead of the 2019/20 season. The club are already well stocked in attacking midfield, but depth is certainly required at the back end of a Championship season.
Mbaye Diagne
Leeds have struggled without Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe in recent weeks so may be looking to add a little more depth to their ranks in the striker department. One player touted with a shock move is 26-year-old Mbaye Diagne of Kasimpasa.
It’s believed scouts have already been to watch the Senegal striker, who plies his trade in the Turkish league. The club were interested in him in the summer and will certainly be looking to follow that up considering he’s scored eight in his first six games. He’ll add an extra dimension to the Leeds attack, and with very few having seen him play he could be a real handful.
Ed Williams
Another striker they’re looking at is Ed Williams, the non-league star who’s really turning heads. Both Leeds and Villa scouts have been down to watch him in recent weeks, with the 23-year-old having bagged five goals in the first eight games of the season.
Naturally, it’s a risk and could be a window too soon if they snap him up in January. But the club should certainly still be monitoring the young man’s progress.
