The top three teams in the Championship all won last weekend, with Leeds United’s title rivals keeping the pressure on. Leeds managed to secure a 1-0 win over Bristol City, Sheffield United beat struggling Rotherham United 2-0, while Norwich beat Swansea City on Friday night.
But last night the two Yorkshire clubs hit back against Norwich with Leeds securing a 3-0 victory over Reading and Sheffield United beating Brentford 2-0 even with 10 men. This means Leeds leapfrogged Norwich to the top of the table whilst Sheffield United closed the gap to 1 point.
A win in their upcoming will see Norwich return to the top of the table. Norwich are one point behind Leeds but could restore their two point advantage at the top of the table with victory over Hull City tonight. Daniel Farke was in an antagonistic mood after their last game.
Talking about the game, the German said that they had spoken before the game, saying that it was a small final for them to keep the distance to a dangerous side, adding that with this win, they were able to create an even larger gap to positions six and seven, and that they are now in a “brilliant position”.
He continued by saying that now have the chance to reach at least the play-offs, because he doesn't believe that six sides would be able to get past them, but it remains to be seen whether these remarks will have any affect on the odds at no deposit casinos or in the sports betting industry.
The Blades managed to take a big victory after they travelled to the Hawthorns and beat West Brom 1-0, and they currently sit behind Leeds ahead of this weekends match but have a better goal difference.
Despite these wins, Chris Wilder has promised improvements, saying that they don’t want to stand still, and that he didn’t enjoy the performance, despite enjoying the result.
He added that other sides in the division, such as West Brom, would have been hurt by his team, and they would have possibly won three or four nil if it had been the other way around, finishing by saying that they still have more to learn.
West Brom’s loss to the Blades and recent results means that they are now ten points way off the automatic promotion places. Darren Moore was left upset after his the schedule of his side recently. Talking about his team, Moore stated that he told his team that he had no complaints at all because they had given their everything, but that he thought it had maybe been a game too much for them.
He continued by saying that they had good players in some good positions, but that they couldn’t get back the elusive touch to get back into their games properly, adding that they were lacking that extra spark, which was needed in a game like that. He finished off by saying that it was a tight game, and that United got the goal and he was impressed how they had defended themselves, and that they were resolute and stuck with the task at hand.
West Brom, perhaps now seeing that the chance of automatic promotion has gone dispensed with Darren Moore’s services and are holding talks with former Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic as they step up their efforts to replace Moore.
