Patrick Bamford and Ben White nominated for the August PFA Championship Player of the Month Award

Post by YorkshireSquare »

Leeds United have had two players nominated for the August PFA Bristol Street Motors
Championship Player of the Month Award. Striker Patrick Bamford and defender Ben White are both nominated following fantastic starts to the season with Jarrod Bowen of Hull City, Borja Baston of Swansea City, Daniel Johnson of Preston and Lyle Taylor of Charlton completing the nominations for August. This Award is decided by football fans across the globe and you can vote for one of our boys to win here. Voting starts at 11am on 2nd September and is open until 8am on 4th September.

Patrick Bamford

Following a lean spell towards the end of last season and during pre-season Bamford had a lot to prove, and prove himself he has with four goals and an assist in the first five games of the season. A goal on the opening day of the season at Bristol followed by a brace against Wigan and the third against Stoke has seen Bamford with four goals in the first six games of the season. All of his goals have come away from home though, Elland Road has not been such a happy hunting ground as he toils up front on his own against defensively setup teams. With Eddie Nketiah champing at the bit for a first team place the pressure is on Bamford but so far he is delivering, away from home at least. Place your vote for Patrick Bamford here.

Ben White

There were big shoes to fill in the Leeds United defence following the surprise departure of Pontus Jansson to Brentford this summer but Ben White has stepped up and looks a class at the back alongside Liam Coper. The best defender at Leeds since Rio Ferdinand? A big claim maybe but the Brighton loanee is backing it up with stats. Defensively White averages 2.5 tackles, 4 interceptions and 3.7 clearances per game leading to three clean sheets for Leeds so far this season. His passing stats make for good reading too with an average of 66 passes per game and a 87.6% pass accuracy rate, a true ball playing centre back. Place your vote for Ben White here.

Voting starts at 11am on 2nd September and is open until 8am on 4th September, you can vote for Patrick Bamford or Ben White to win here. Leeds fans may be a little surprised not to see Kalvin Phillips in the running, having featured at the top of our man of the match votes game in, game out.

Well done to the both of them, both deserve it. Didn't know anything about Ben White and he has been excellent. Wasn't that impressed with Bamford last season, but he too has been very good so far.
Un Marcelo Bielsa, solo hay un Marcelo Bielsa. Gracias Marcello. Marsching on together.

Me neither and I doubt many of our fans did either. Shows the excellent work Orta is doing in identifying targets as he was supposedly on our radar for a long time. Just hope they have another player like Dan James lined up for January (and we can get the deal done). So galling to watch him scoring goals out of nothing for Man Utd when we are crying out for a goal.

Just watched that episode of the doc. Definite desire from Orta and Kinnear to get that deal done, jsut needed someone to answer the phone.
