Re: Mowatt heading to Oakwell
Shame at this stage of the season. Goal-scoring midfielder, we ought to keep him until at least the end of the season.
Re: Mowatt heading to Oakwell
It's a shame but a move (like Tom Lees) maybe in the best interest of the player, his career, progress has stalled at Leeds and a new challenge and getting game time may help him get back on track. The other side is he may help Barnsley take points off of our rivals

At the moment he would probably be 3rd choice in that position behind Hernandez and Roofe. Antonnsen could possibly also play that position if we did get an injury crisis. Plus, if rumours are to be believed, we seem to be after 2 more attacking players which could push him even further down the pecking order.
Re: Mowatt heading to Oakwell
thought a loan move would have been more appropriate
Re: Mowatt heading to Oakwell
Does his contract run out soon?
Every game I predict a 3 - 1 Leeds win, I am traditional like that.

Re: Mowatt heading to Oakwell
His contract is up in the summer.
We can all see the potential that this one will bite us on the behind as he has talent however club currently don't need him and we wouldn't currently even get compensation for him if he went on a free in the summer so selling now for a fee is the best business decision.
Shame he couldn't be brought into the mix abit more.

Re: Mowatt heading to Oakwell
contract runs out at the end of this season. Although he is only 21 years old we would only get a fee if Leeds offered him a contract that was better than his previous one. I believe GFH gave him his last contract so it might be that we are paying him considerably more than he is worth (like they did with Byram and Murphy). If this is the case the club are in a tricky position as they wouldn't want to offer him a contract which could be higher than some first team starters and then have him as one of the highest earners just to sit on the bench.

For all his potential he has had 2 years of playing poorly with the only decent game coming against a lower league side. Several managers, including Monk, seem to have not been able to get the best out of him and it speaks volume when you see how Monk has gotten the best out of Doukara and Wood.Blakerb-LUFC wrote:His contract is up in the summer.

Indeed, he seems to be a player that showes flashes of talent or has an outstanding game but isn't somehow able to produce it week in and week out.weasel wrote:For all his potential he has had 2 years of playing poorly with the only decent game coming against a lower league side. I think i am behind the decision to sell.
A contract could be offered with a view to loaning out and getting more of a fee but that carries risks in itself as if he does not end up warranting a higher fee, its cost more in the end plus there would not be additional funds in the short term.
He's an academy lad, again & I think that's what gets to people. That and until money is put into the squad it feels like de-ja-vu despite all the headlines - nothing has materialsed in the way of new blood or even Jansson.

Monk saying, the move is way down the line, so he is expecting at least one of his targets to be coming in soon.

Good luck to him. Hope he at least gets consistent football and maybe kickstart his young career again. Had some amazing goals in his time here.

He'll be the latest in a long line of players to come good once he's left us. The tykes are not a bad team and they'll probably be good for him.

He's probably better than the player they let go to Villa, Hourihane. Good luck to him
