Hope the boy does well, he has talent but couldn't produce it consistently enough to convince Monk he had a future here. If we have ambitions of going up, we need players who can produce the goods week in, week out. Not once every 4 or 5 games. And with all due respect, he's gone to Barnsley, not Barca. It's a step sideways at best

You could be right there mate, he never seemed to get a game here in his favoured position.

Reminds me so much of when we sold Adam Clayton to Huddersfield. I am not for one minute saying this is fact, however, I would be very surprised if Monk wanted to sell Mowatt in this transfer window he should have been given a new contract after 2014-15.
I think Mowatt will do well at Barnsley as it is a club that suits him better as he will be under less pressure and will not be criticised on Twitter as much every time we lose a game. I am predicting he will sign for someone like Newcastle by 2018-2019.
Good luck Alex.

The trouble was GFH gave him one of their daft contracts, like they did with Byram and Murphy, as they saw him as a crown jewel type player. Works out well if the judgement is right and the players do really well and we can then get a decent transfer fee. No good though in the case of Murphy and Mowatt who both failed to hit the heights many of us thought they would.

Mowatt started for Barnsley midweek, but got subbed in their 2-1 loss at QPR at half time.

Was dropped for yesterdays game at home to Ipswich, was an unused sub.

Still hasn't found his level yet !
