My paternal ancestors are O'Connors from County Galway. I'll be spending the summer there to celebrate my retirement, whenever that happens.

From there it's on to Yorkshire for September and a trip or three to ER.

I love reading posts from everyone on this site and I love the differences of opinion as long as they:

1) are informed
2) avoid getting personal.

I don't mind being corrected if I'm wrong. While I may not have the most informed opinion when it comes to football and my taste in music, literature, art, and films may stink, that doesn't make me a bad person.

There are a whole bunch of other reasons why I'm a bad person.

Sounds like an impressive and wholeheartedly desirable aim John.
Any idea of the year?
Just curious.

PaulUSA, miss him.

As for Twiggs, he is welcomed back anytime, but is choosing not to for his own reasons. He is on my FB friends list, and is doing well these days in Germany.

Paul was a nice bloke Dan.

He loved his music & orchestrated a knock-out poll featuring top bands I seem to recall. Paul disappeared for a while as I think he was busy with a house move & looking after his grandchildren, he returned sometime later for a day or so, haven't seen him since, must be three years ago. Hope all is well with Paul

I still miss Twiggster. I know he tried to stir things up, but that's what made me interested in him. If you read his posts but didn't take them too seriously, then he was a fun poster. I guess that's easy for me to say, because he was always nice to me but even when he was having a go at someone, I could imagine his tongue firmly tucked in his cheek. Don't forget, we all scoffed at him and his Jimmy Saville story, but that one was sure proved true before all the stuff came out in the papers..

Retirement for me too in April. Mrs. Bob and I have a tour of Italy in June. We are going to do one of those group things. Never done one before so we'll have to see how it works out. Then she is going to tour Ireland with her sister in September (they used to live there) and then we have a safari in Kenya in November. Looking forward to this next phase of our life.
(I'll even get back to sunny Yorkshire).

Life is about being challenged and taken out of your comfort zone. Twiggster did just this with - as you say - tongue firmly in cheek. I think that he started to feel like the live wire in a retirement home so he broke out.

And many of us followed him as sycophancy became increasingly unattractive.

Twiggs broke out because of aggravation on the dark side forum. Also I believe he was having personal problems at the time, now residing in Germany apparently
