Feels like doing a Leeds back in 1964/65

Re: Just pipped.....
All three draws were the culprits, blew a winning chance on the final end in each match. We also lost our crucial match to the 3 Amigos 16-15 on the final end.gessa wrote:We'll blame your accident.
Chucked it away tbh got a nice little runners-up meddle
On the Hoof's team won the Evening Pairs League which we've won for the last 6 or 7 years so happy John, Pam & myself prevailed again
Have a singles final + a triples semi-final coming up so it's been a good season even though I broke my wrist in December

Bowls is a compulsive addictive sport, never thought I'd take to it when I started playing 13 years ago, now a big part of my life, love it

Finals day at Middleton-On-The-Wolds Bowls Club
3pm was the time of the Singles Final so with a limited mobile signal I had no idea how my beloved Leeds were doing. I just knew I had to turn up & perform to a very high level as my opponent JG is a fine player. I started the game well even though I was 3-1 down, my confidence in my own ability paid off as I went into an 8-3 lead. From then on I never looked back as with a 17-9 lead my opponent looked downhearted, the 21 winning line was in my grasp which I made with considerable ease to score a 4 on our final end. So the 21-9 result gave me the distinguished status of being Middleton's Indoor Bowls Champion :champ:
I was determined to win this Singles title after missing out on two months of the season due to my broken wrist back in December. I needed to prove to myself I could still perform at a decent level even though I had to go through the pain barrier at times
So two titles in the bag & just missing out on the Triples league as above has made it a very successful season for your resident bowler
Absolutely over the moon to be champion since my last title win in 2010

Well played sir...but missing the Leeds game clearly resulted in our defeat

Cheers mate.....my attendance record at games results-wise hasn't been that clever of latefaaip wrote:Well played sir...but missing the Leeds game clearly resulted in our defeat
I play my sport at a consistently high level sadly unlike our beloved Leeds

Congratulations Leon.
A very fine win, especially considering the bad break you had just before Christmas.

Even though I've won numerous trophies over the years I'm chuff to bits with this one
Re: Just pipped.....got it right today !
Well Done - plus a 12/1 winner in the NAP's, wins for the Rhinos and YCC. Only one thing stopping it being a brilliant day

I was on such a high I honestly didn't let the Leeds result get to me.
As you say everything else in my world went so well I wasn't gonna allow that disappointment ruin my day.
Jill cooked a smashing delicious meal as always to finish the day off in style

Well done Leon, as has already been said, to achieve what you have after breaking your wrist is fantastic
Re: Just pipped.....PRESENTATION PHOTO'S
Thanks Swan, quite a few bowlers & non-bowlers at the do last night said the same to me.whiteswan wrote:Well done Leon, as has already been said, to achieve what you have after breaking your wrist is fantastic
Sheer determination to get through the pain-barrier initially I guess & a will to win of course.
Will be tougher next season as the big guns are determined to beat the champ, only to be expected I suppose. I enjoy a challenge
